Maureen Ann Fenney Messer, “Momma Messer” passed away at age 77 on Sunday, October 6, 2019 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was surrounded by her three daughters and her granddaughter. There will be a visitation on Thursday, October 10th from 5-7 PM at the McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home located at 220 W. Broadway Avenue, Maryville, TN 37801. A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 AM at the All Saints Catholic Church 620 N Cedar Bluff Rd. Knoxville, Tennessee 37923 on Friday October 11, 2019.

Maureen was born September 17, 1942 in Montclair, New Jersey. She was the 11th and youngest child of John and Catherine (née Bishoff) Feeney. Maureen and her siblings were first generation Americans as both John and Catherine were immigrants to the United States – Catherine was from Germany and John from Ireland.

Maureen lived a full life and was always up for adventure. Many of her adventures were often had with her very close friend since the 6th grade Agness Ciotti and her dear neighborhood friend Nina Teague, her loving and spirited family, as well as the numerous people for whom she was an auntie and friend.

Maureen was also the wife of the late Eugene Messer, mother to Cynthia, Christine and Jessica, and the best Mamaw in the world to her one and only Victoria Danielle. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Catherine, and her siblings John S. Jr., James, Vincent, Raymond, Robert, Thomas, Joseph, Cynthia Collins, and Kathleen Robertson and son-in-law Jeffrey Dorsey. She is survived by her three daughters Cynthia (Messer) Dorsey, Christine (Messer) Herron, Jessica Messer, granddaughter Victoria Herron, sister Celia (Fenney) Collins, best friend Agness Ciotti and countless nieces and nephews.
