Gary was my roommate during our Freshman year at Rutgers - New Brunswick.
He taught me how to do "The Twist" in the mens' showers. Doesn't that paint a pretty picture? Sadly, he didn't make it past Freshman year due to grades, but he stayed long enough to tutor me in Army ROTC, which I managed to flunk first semester. Memorably, we learned the technical description of the M-1 rifle by using the acronym GCASS = Gary Carrell's Ass = Gas operated. Clip fed, Air cooled, Semi-automatic, Shoulder weapon. Why on earth did I remember that???
He was a great roomie, a true friend, and never forgot his place in the Senior Seven. I love you, G.
As a member of our singing group, only he and Jim Leonardson knew how to read music and put in many hours to teach me my harmony part. his laugh was memorable to this day.
