Ross Martindale Jr., 61, of Caldwell, died at home on Sunday, May 1.
A service of remembrance will be held on Friday, May 6, at 1 p.m. in the Women’s Club of
Caldwell, 31 Westville Ave., Caldwell. Interment is private.
Mr. Martindale was born in Glen Ridge, the son of Ross Martindale Sr. and the late Nancy (née
Beach). He was raised in Montclair and lived in the Caldwells for the past 35 years.
He was a 1972 graduate of the Stonier School of Banking. A banker for 36 years, he retired as
vice president of Bank of New York, Totowa, in 1999. Prior to his retirement he worked for
Bank of New York, formerly National Community Bank, West Caldwell. He started his banking
career at Montclair National Bank/American National Bank and First Fidelity Bank, Caldwell,
before joining National Community Bank/Bank of New York.
Mr. Martindale was active in the Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex and the West Essex
Chamber of Commerce. He was the first co-chair of the first Rotary/Kiwanis Caldwell Street Fair.
He was a member of the advisory board of Essex County College, West Essex Campus,
coordinator of the CaldwellWomen’s Club, and YMCA leader with Indian guides and princesses.
He is survived by his children, Lisa and her husband Jason Brown of Emerson, and Brian of
Brulington, N.C.; his granddaughter, Emily; and his brother Frederick Martindale and his wife
Donna of Savannah, Ga.

Ron Owens

Ross was my brother-in-law for 20 years.  I have asked his children to give me information that I can post in his memory.  Ron Owens, '61

Eric Davidson

At age 12 or so Ross was a chubby young lad, but then disappeared from school. When he returned he was as thin as a rail and had Type 1 diabetes. He was my friend and a very nice and interesting young man. Ric
