ARCHITECTURAL ATMOSPHERE

Purpose:  To establish an atmosphere conducive for students to thrive in academics, arts and athletics.  Emphasis will be placed on making the school building a sound structure and visually appealing

Desired Outcome:  Engage all stakeholders for values, beliefs, norms and expectations to establish a goal and vision for school culture and climate

Targets:

• Roof  Repairs , Window Repair/Replacement and overall building repairs
  • Secure funding to offset expense of repairs
• Classroom/Hallway upgrades
  • Improve the physical appearance of each classroom and hallway focusing on painting walls, refinishing floors, and window treatments
• Restroom Repair/upgrade
  • Secure funding to remodel the upper level restrooms

ACADEMICS

Purpose:  To resuscitate, stimulate, and rejuvenate a desirable, thriving learning environment to offer academic support to our students.  The central plan provides an initial – and annually  reviewed – framework for academic revival to complement the reclamation focus of the administration

Desired Outcome:  To engage subject-area specialists – including  educational retirees, tutors, and professionals who are patient, compassionate, and interested in enriching the whole student and offering an encouraging hand to the educators who impact students’ lives for academic success 

Targets:

• Initiating peer mentorship to excelling students
  • Introduce opportunities beyond high school
• Engage parents to reinforce school academic expectations
  • Encourage exhibiting academic excellence at home

ATHLETICS

Purpose:  To support the entire athletic department in order to enhance the athlete’s experience at Lanier while increasing school pride among the students, administration, staff, faculty and alumni

Desired Outcome:  To revive the spirit of team/school of Sidney Lanier High School 

Targets:

• Upgrade athletic equipment
  • Host fundraising events with proceeds used to acquire state the art athletic equipment for our athletes
• Mentorship
  • Connect former Poet athletes with current athletes to provide mentoring opportunities for student athletes

ARTS

Purpose:  To identify, enhance and implement areas of the artistic experience in the school’s curriculum. The focus being on gauge interest levels and evaluating current programs to determine needs

Desired Outcome:  To revitalize the theatrical, choral, musical and  general creative components of Sidney Lanier High School 

Targets:

• Perform an overall assessment
  • Evaluate the interest level of the arts program
  • Assess the physical facilities to be utilized by the arts program
    • ~Improve the physical appearance of auditorium, band room choir room, art room (collaboration with Atmosphere)
  • Purchase necessary supplies
    • ~Determine the materials/equipment needed and secure  funding to offset the cost
• Establish and foster relationships
  • Initiate a link with individuals and organizations that can contribute to our mission and purpose
