JOHN HOCKING----- Services for John Doble Hocking, 28, 404 W. 7th St., will be held at Tuesday at the Church of the Living Water. Pastor Mark Anderson will officiate. A private burial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation is at the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home.

An early morning accident Saturday claimed the lives of John Hocking, 28, 404 W. 7th St., and a Michigan man. Some details of the head-on collision had not been isolated by the Muscatine police yet this morning. Hocking and Richard Jerome Hertz, 58, Belleville, Mich., both were driving the 3100 block of Grandview Avenue at 1:19 a.m. Saturday when their vehicles collided directly head on. Both men were dead at the scene.

Services for Mr. Hocking will be held Tuesday at the Church of the Living Water. Pastor Mark Anderson will officiate. A private burial service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

The son of Fred and Eugenia Boynton Hocking Sr., he was born Oct. 14, 1952, in Muscatine. He was a life resident of the Muscatine area. He was a 1970 graduate of Muscatine High School and attended Muscatine Community College.

His marriage to Jennifer Ann Freemole took place Aug. 21, 1976, in Muscatine. He was part of the fellowship of the Church of the Living Water. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout and a member of the DeMolay and the YMCA. Mr. Hocking worked at HON industries and played in several bands.

He is survived by his wife; his parents of Muscatine; two brothers, Fred. Jr. and Torrence, Calif., and Guy of Las Cruces, N.M.; and one sister, Ann Heckman of Ruidosa, N.M.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
