John 'Denny" Roelle, 49

TIPTON, Iowa -- John "Denny" Roelle, 49, Tipton, formerly of Wilton and Muscatine, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2002, in Las Vegas, Nev., after a lengthy illness.  

Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, Muscatine. The Rev. Don Swanson will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the burial, at the home of Helen Roelle, Muscatine.

Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.   Memorials have been established.

Mr. Roelle was born on March 22, 1952, in Muscatine, the son of John I. and Vera Cozad Roelle.

He graduated from Muscatine High School in 1970. He was baptized in the Episcopalian Church.

He owned the Wooden Nickel, Wilton and J & W Tap, Tipton.

He was a member of the Muscatine Moose.

He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, going to Las Vegas and was a big Beatles fan.

Survivors include his fiance, Wanda Chaplin of Tipton; a daughter, Angela of California; three grandchildren, Eddie, Stevie and Jacob; a half-brother, Jim Goodrich of California; a sister-in-law, Helen Roelle of Muscatine; and nephews and nieces, Doug Roelle, Dave Roelle, Steve Roelle and Janet Gerst.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three half-brothers, Robert Roelle, Jack Roelle and Ronald Goodrich; and a half-sister, Barbara Goodrich
