Marilyn E. Bentley, 48, of Muscatine, died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at the University of
Iowa Hospital and Clinics in
Iowa City.
Services will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home in Muscatine. The Rev. Suz
McIver of First Christian Church will officiate. Organist will be Phyllis
Jones and vocalist will be
Pat McDonald. Burial will be in
Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bill
Smith, Jack

Hurlbut, Dean
Vetter, Mike Lee, Kevin
Phillips and Raymond
Wendt Jr. A luncheon will be held at the
Hayes Catholic School following the service.
Visitation will be at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Nature Center at
Hayes School and to the First Christian Church.
She was born April 1, 1952, in Muscatine, the daughter of Lester and Marian
Wendt Smith. She married Brian
Bentley on May 13, 1978, in Muscatine.
She was a member of the
Chapter FC of PEO and First Christian Church of Muscatine.
She taught fourth grade at
Hayes Catholic School for eight years.
She graduated from
Iowa Wesleyan
College in 1974 in Mt. Pleasant, with a bachelor's
degree in education and psycologoy. She enjoyed
teaching and the great outdoors.
Survivors include her
husband, Brian, of Muscatine; a son, David
Bentley, of Muscatine; two daughters,
Merideth and Adriane
Bentley, both of Muscatine; her mother, Marian
Smith, of Muscatine; two brothers, Marvin and David
Smith, both of Muscatine; and a sister, Connie
Whitlock, of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her father.
