NANCY JEAN YOUNG
Nancy Jean Young died April 17, 2025, at the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center in Port Orange, Florida.
Nancy was born June 1, 1952, in Muscatine, Iowa to George A. and Alice Bekker Stych. She graduated from Muscatine High School in 1970 and married Thomas J. Young on December 30, 1970.
Nancy loved to travel and was always planning her next adventure, usually to Orange Lake or on a Disney Cruise. She loved her family, but it was good to be her “Sweet Pea.” Nancy loved driving fast, fresh laundry and a rocket launch. All were met with the same level of enthusiasm and sometimes, her signature happy dance. She was best known for her kind blue eyes and warm smile that she was always wearing.
Nancy was active in the PEO, Zion Lutheran Church and Muscatine Hospital Auxiliary, among other volunteer groups. She was an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her husband and children: Barry Young, Lindsey Morris (Mike Murphy) and Zachary Young (Gina), all of Port Orange, FL. Grandchildren: Mars Morris of Port Orange, FL and Sam Young of Muscatine, IA. Siblings: Keith Stych (Nancy), Rosemary Hollatz (Jim) and Kenneth Stych (Kim), many nieces and nephews and special friend, Catherine Rinehart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings George Stych (Janet), Paul Stych (Ellyn), Rita Phelps, Jeanette Phillips (Alan), Maynard Stych (Joyce), Wayne Stych (Louanna), Ronald Stych (Margaret), Donna Conisbee (Syd) and her son-in-law, Sam Morris.
There will be a private ceremony with immediate family and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s name and in care of Lindsey Morris to contribute to a college fund for Nancy’s grandchildren. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be made at: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
