MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Paul E. Thomas, 52, Muscatine, died Sunday, November 21, 2004, at Unity Hospital.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2004, at Calvary Church. The Rev. Andy Landers will officiate the services. Casket bearers are DeWayne Hopkins, Jim Lee, Jim VanWinkle, Kelly Gubser, Jamie Hopkins and Joe Barten. Honorary casket bearers are Bill Letty, Chuck Littler, Kevin Madsen, Eric Wagner, Mike Hansen and Myrta Ramer. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. After the services, a time of food and fellowship will be held at Calvary Church.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 23, 2004, at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home, 2907 Mulberry Ave.  A memorial has been established at the funeral home.

Paul was born on March 7, 1952, in Muscatine, the son of Robert H. and Norma Jean Barnhart Thomas. He married Jill P. Asleson on November 5, 1988, in Fountain, Minnesota.

He was a member of Calvary Church and was the first to play an electric guitar at the church. He was a very active in the Worship band and a member of the Vision Team. He had just finished mixing and producing the most recent CD the band recorded. He was a member of several local bands for more than 35 years including the Day Breakers, Rox, The Ones and Cruisin. You would often hear Cruisin say 'we only play the songs we want to hear'. Not only was he a very talented musician, he also had a skill with computers.

He was employed by Stanley Consultants Inc. as a systems analyst.

Survivors include his wife, Jill Thomas of Muscatine; a son, Samuel Robert Thomas of Muscatine; a brother, Dale R. Thomas and fiancee, Mary Sue Knoblauch, of Bettendorf; step-mother, Elisabeth Loos Thomas of Muscatine; three step-brothers, Harold Loos and wife, Patsy, Norbert Loos and Karl Loos, all of Muscatine; two step-sisters, Leona Fortenbacher and husband, Josef, and Gerry Bermel and husband, Steve, all of Muscatine; step-nieces and nephews, Matt Loos and wife, Becky, John Loos, Mark Loos, Leo Loos, David Loos, Mark Fortenbacher and wife, Amy, Karl Fortenbacher and wife, Carey, Krista Regennitter and husband, Nathan, Elisabeth Bermel and Erica Bermel, all of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
