Randy Walch, 22

Randy Walch, 22, 205 1/2 W. Second St. died Sunday at University Hospitals in Iowa City from injuries he sustained in a Saturday morning auto accident north of Fredonia. The cause of death has been attributed to internal bleeding according to Louisa County Sheriff's Department authorities.

The car apparently driven by Darrel Hazelwood, 19, 716 Park Ave, failed to make a curve while traveling north on the Fredonia blacktop and rolled off the road near the Howard Wagner farm. Hazelwood remained in serious condition today at University Hospitals with multiple fractures.

Both men appeared to have been thrown nearly 100 feet from the vehicle, authorities said. The time of the accident was estimated to have occurred between 4 a.m. and 6:35 a.m. the time the wreck was discovered by the farmer. Sheriff's authorities said that it appeared both men had suffered internal injuries, broken necks and other fractured bones.

Funeral Services for Walch will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Geo. M. Wittich Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at 7 p.m. today. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Born August 12, 1952 in Muscatine, he was the son of Lawrence and Delores McKillip Walch. He was a life resident of this community.

He married Mary Kathleen Driscoll Aug 27, 1971 in Ft. Hood Texas. He was a member of the First Christian Church and had recently been discharged from the U.S. Army. He was a partner in Walch Transfer Co.

Surviving are his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Walch, Muscatine; a sister Christina Sue, also of Muscatine and grandparents Mr and Mrs Loran Walch and Mrs Lucie McKillip, all of Muscatine.
