MUSCATINE, Iowa—Richard ‘Dick’ Symmonds, 60, died on Wednesday, October 17, 2012, at his home.

Dick was born on Sept. 29, 1952, in Muscatine, the son of Richard H. and Bonnie Lee Symmonds.  He married Patti Allen on May 17, 1974, in Muscatine.

He worked as a truck driver.

He loved to play his guitar and compose songs, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and going on the river in his boat.  He also enjoyed partying with his friends.

He was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam Conflict.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Patti Symmonds of Muscatine; one son, Richard Symmonds and wife, Kim, of Thornton, Colo.; two daughters, Kathryn Symmonds and Emily Burmeister and husband, Jim, all of Muscatine; seven grandchildren, Richard L., Rebecca S., and Reanna M. Symmonds of Thornton, Colo., Robert H. J. and Bonnie M. Symmonds, both of Muscatine, Minnie L. Symmonds and Allyson Burmeister, both of Muscatine; and one sister, Penny White and husband, Ralph, of Muscatine.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant brother, Greg; two brothers, Daryl and Kevin Symmonds; and one niece, Destiny
