Sheila and I want to express our heartfelt condolence to Benjie's family and dearest friends. I believe everyone who had ever met Benji liked him. He had that way about him. Benjie, with his encompassing and embracing personality, will be greatly missed.
Benjie's tragic death should serve as a wake up call to the rest of the 78ers. Life is short. We're not immortal or indestructible as we once thought we were in our youth. For those of us who haven't taken as good of care of ourselves as we probably should have, me included...today would be a good day to start.
The last thing I wanted to see at our next reunion is an additional balloon being released.
It really saddens me about Benji. My prayers go out to his family at this time. What are your thoughts on the class of 1978 making a donation in memory of Bengi since he was on the reunion committee?
I am just heart broken to hear about Benji. My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they go through this difficult time. Lynda, I think a donation or flowers from the class of 1978 is a wonderful idea. Just let me know what I can do to help with getting it organized. Lisa (stick)
I think the flower deal is a great idea. Give me a little while and I'll see what options are out there for us to do. Thanks to all. I still sit and cry over my friend. 40+ years is a long time and we've had some great times together. My heart is broken
Susan - Kenny and I want to put our name in on what ever you decide to donate. Please let me know if we can do anything else. Thanks for doing this. Our cell # is 348-5842. Thanks
If you wish, please write me message and tell a little story about Benjie. I'll print them off and give them to the family. I know they'd enjoy it. I've been at the Gaston's all day, telling stories of Benjie. Laughing, crying, and just enjoying the moment thinking about him.
Susan let me know what I owe you. You might put on the flowers a ribbon that has from the class of 78 MHS or something. I will call you...wish you could have gone with us...
Count me in on the memorial flowers for Benji. He was one of those nice guys that stood out and will always be remembered. My thoughts and prayers go out the the family.
Lynda, I like the idea of making a donation in Benji's name to a worthy cause. I wonder if there is a children's camp in Colorado or somewhere else that we could sponsor a child for the week in memory of Benji. Just thinking how much he loved camping........ We have some church camps that are always looking for sponsors for kids that can't afford to go in our area.
The last time Benji and I spoke he was bragging on Harrison and how well he was doing in school. He laughed telling me about Harrison staying in a coed dorm! I think he was envious that there wasn't that option when he was in school!! He loved his daughter as well and said he was her taxi driver. Benji and I have lived in Muskogee all our lives and I will miss seeing him around. Many prayers for comfort and peace for the family have been said in the last couple of days.
