Jan, Linzy just returned from a mission trip with her church and Harrison went also. I know they have to pay for it, or raise money. She'll be going again next year and maybe we could take care of that for her.

Just a thought.

I spoke to Karen French (Class of 1979) she is making the spray for us. This will be a huge wreath that will be put on a stand...........made of all green & white flowers with a ribbon... MHS Class of 1978! The cost is $125.00. I will pay her myself........anyone that wants to go in on this can just pay me at the funeral or send me a check at 203 Valhalla Drive, Muskogee..74403
If there is any money left over I'll get with CJ and make sure the Gaston children go to camp.

I have great sadness because of a loss of a friend. CJ I know this is very difficult for you and I will be praying for you and all our friends who will be suffering with this great loss. I noticed that someone said we need to take better care of our selves and this is true. But I would also ask that each of us look towards eturnity. A close personal walk with Jesus brings true joy to life. Please take a moment to watch and listen to this video.

God Bless,

The saddest part for me is that I was just getting to know Benji.
My heart breaks for you CJ.
Benji was the perfect friend for you. Once in a lifetime friend.
I'm not sure many of us could say we've ever had a friendship like yours.

I like the idea of helping his kids.
Just let me know what you'd like to do.

I just sent an email to everyone about Benji's funeral. Sorry not to do it sooner but I've been away since Friday, without computer and phone.

It's hard to believe Benji was taken so soon. One of my favorite memories of him was when we innertubed down the Illinois river one summer during college with Steve, Thom, Patti and Dieman. I'm glad to have gotten back in touch since the reunion, glad to have gotten a hug at the chili cookoff in April. He was a dear classmate; I will miss him.

What i remember about Benji and laugh every time I think about it is when we got locked in the park after one of the nights at the movies...we, i should say me, couldnt find a way out because all of the gates were locked. Good ole Benji just laughed and got me out...

He was our hero after that.....

Hello, all! I've been offline for over a week and had not seen the PHOENIX, so imagine my shock when Lynda Hambrick called me out of the blue from Texas and told me the news about Benji! My heart goes out to his family. And I know that you must be really in pain, Chris. When John Alan Rivers, our MHS classmate, died in 1991, a part of me died too. I try to remember that those people who have meant something to us are a GIFT, not a GIVEN, and to be happy for the time we had with them. But, alas, I remain perhaps too greedy: I want more time with them.

Susan (and Karen French), the flowers were lovely. I'll send you a contribution.

Much love to all of us; may we appreciate what we have.

I'll second that, Steve!

I didn't know Benji but I know what it's like to lose a best friend and a friend of the heart. My prayers are with Benji's family and all of my classmates who were his friends. CJ, I have seldom seen men with life friends or friends of the heart. I know you will miss him terribly.

For 30 years, I never saw Benji around town, but the months preceeding the reunion, I ran into to him at all kinds of commuity events (airshow...civitan hill on 4th of July for example). I will remember his stories of moving into Harrison's room after his son went off to college. The story was about finding a secret trophy (pair of panties) in the closet along with about $40. He also was telling the story about his mom's car getting flooded out in front of the hospital during the rainstorm that cancelled the firework show at Hatbox. He was driving by and realized that the car that was stranded was HIS MOTHERS! He also told a story about going camping and being outdrank by a couple of college age sorority sisters who thought he was a lightweight by going to be before midnight.

I will surely miss Benji also...I was just getting to know everybody's bff...I don't know anybody that didn't like him. He had such a big heart with alot of generosity.

Goodbye Benji!

I never really knew Benjie that well, but I have always appreciated the "Best Bud" relationship that Benjie and Chris shared. It was nice to see Benjie walk into Debbie and Mike's house that early spring night.

I can't imagine the pain that Benjie's family has gone through this week, and the struggles they will face going forward. I also can't imagine the emptiness that Chris must feel. I must admit that Benjie's sudden death has really bothered me. A reminder that life is short and we should make everyday count.

I am thankful for a lot of things including the reunion and this web site. It has allowed us to reconnect to our past and stay in touch with the present. It has allowed us to lean on each other when needed. The Class of 78 really does care what happens to our fellow classmates.

I found out that Linzy's mission trip this year cost 400.00. I'm pretty sure she'll be going again next year. If the class would like to sponsor her, I can let Cindy know that we'll do it.

Just let me know.

I ran into Barbara Ledbetter the other day. Hadn't seen her in years.
She came to Ben's funeral yesterday. That was so sweet of her. I gave her my e-mail address and asked her to contact me so I could turn her own to this site.

You know you have hit the big time when Paul McCartney announces he will play the BOK Center in Tulsa. The concert is Aug 17th. It will be McCartney's only arena stop on his up coming tour. The rest of the concerts will be at stadiums.
