Since graduation I have retired from a career in the military, raised a son who is now 20 & currently in Florida checking out life and the college system there.
I now keep myself busy with volunteering. The two main areas I seem to volunteer mostly in are Emergency Services and Instructing. The two organizations I work closely with are the Civil Air Patrol and the Red Cross.
In the Civil Air Patrol I am the Dupty Commander & run the Emergency Services Program for our local chapter. I work with and train both adults and youth; however, I find my passion is for the youth who have the footholds of our future.
With the Red Cross I instruct CERT and Disaster classes as well as CPR & First Aid. I also respond to fires and do a lot of Disaster work... the most recently was being Shelter Manager at Asbury United Methodist Church during the last Ice Storm.
I have been fortunate enough to have been blessed with some close friends who have weathered time and life with me...... And, somewhere between graduation and my life today, I have come to realize that when push comes to shove ... when I am sitting around old and gray ... all that I will have is my soul, my family, my memories and the differences I made in the life of others.
