Ronnie always fun to be around,I think he was born with muscles. Knew he had joined the Military,Heard rumors of how he died ,but it don't matter anyway. He will always be a hero in my book. I guess God needs strong Angles too . Terry Sampson
Ronnie died in France. He was an embassy guard in the US Marines. There was a full honor guard at his funeral with a 12 gun salute. His body was accompanied by 3 marines one of which spent 2 days with me. The others were with Ronnie's father and family.
During that time I heard a number of accounts of Ronnie's accomplishments in the Marines. He was awarded the IronMan award within his platoon and squadron which amounted to 2,000 Bad Boys. He went on to win other awards and medals for numerous accomplishments while in the military. At his parents home there was an entire wall of awards with many of them very prestigious, according to my guide Ronald Elliott was "A Man among Marines".
Embassy Guard Duty is considered an honor only topped by being chosen to be a guard at the tomb of the unknown soldier. To be accepted the candidates must have demonstated exemplary character and committment to our country.
Ronnie is a hero in the books of the United States of America. He was my friend, we were supposed share life's joys and accomplishments, I miss him.
Wow - I never knew all that about Ronnie. I remember going to his parent's drive in for lunch. Had him in several classes and remember him as just a great guy to be around. You can't possibly realize in high school how truly amazing people will become.
