Earl Steck

Wow -- this is a trip down memory lane! After graduating from Nampa HS, I was off to Pocatello and Idaho State University. While at ISU, I decided to join the Idaho National Guard in 1964. I earned an ROTC scholarship, returned to ISU and graduated as a Distinguished Graduate in 1968. A 30 year adventure with Army Airborne Rangers included assignments overseas in Vietnam, Panama Canal, Turkey, Germany, Saudi Arabia, & Macedonia. Assignment locations in USA included Georgia, North Carolina, Michigan, Penn., Texas, Boise (as PMS of BSU), & California. My wife (for 42 years), Sharlene has traveled most of these places with me.
We often talk about the great stories from NHS and the many lessons I learned from the friends there.
My best heros from Nampa was our Principal (W.J. Steck) & a class mate from class of 58 General Richard Griffits (Cliff and Kent's brother), a family friend and my Army mentor.

Since retiring from the military in 1994, Sharlene and I moved from California to Florida for a few years and then decided to settle in the Hill Country just north of San Antonio, Texas. We are blessed to have our 2 "kids" live close-by, along with our 3 beautiful granddaughters, Katilyn, Kianna and Jaelin that are a major part of our lives. Our lives have been abundantly enriched by our families. I will never forget the love and support given by my parents, Wesley and Jane Steck. Their legacy will live on forever in us and by all those they touched. Nampa High School will remain a significant memory in my life. It's hard to believe 50 years have passed so quickly -- here's to the next 50!
