Linda Ellen Marx

1946-2012

Linda Ellen Marx, 65, passed away on Jan. 31, 2012 at Queen of the Valley Medical Hospital. Linda was born on March 9, 1946 in Napa to John and Helen Marx. She grew up in Napa attending Napa schools, graduating in 1964. Linda earned her associate’s degree in early childhood education at Napa Valley College and taught preschool for 44 years at Terrace Family Daycare and A Place of My Own in Napa and Burnette Childcare Centers in San Francisco. 

Linda and her sister spent their childhood years on their ranch, Jonafred Farm, which was located on Wine Country Avenue and Solano Avenue. She also helped deliver eggs to many Napa families. Linda was one of the first Sunday school students of Congregation Beth Shalom, Napa, of which her parents were founding members. 

At age 13, Linda joined Napa Assembly #7 International Order of the Rainbow for Girls. She held many offices and served the assembly as Worthy Advisor. In 1974, Linda joined Silver Spray Chapter #59 Order of the Eastern Star and was a 25-year member. She recently served on the Advisory Board of San Francisco Assembly.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, John and Helen Marx and is survived by her sister, JoAnn (Marx) Stern of Napa; niece, Debbie Kmiec, her husband ,Michael and their children, Brandon, Ryan and Zachary, who loved their “Grauntie” dearly; and nephew, Michael Stern and his wife, Brenda. She also leaves behind her faithful companion, Scooter and many friends from the Bay Area. 

A graveside service to honor her life will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012 at 1 p.m., at the Tulocay Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the California Rainbow for Girls Foundation (CRFGF) Anna Lind Scholarship Fund c/o Sara Lee Martin, 17910 Joshua Dr., Yorba Linda, CA 92886-3325.

I knew Linda, starting at Redwood Jr. High School.  We were in a Sextet.  We had been in choirs, together, all along.  Linda was always a cheerful person.  She will be missed.

Cheryl Lloyd (La Fortune)

I new Linda from Salvador school, and we used to play at Johafreds farm where she and her family lived. Tether ball was our favorite thing to play together. I have great memories of Linda. I'm sorry that she had to leave us so soon. With wonderful memories, Cheryl Lloyd (LaFortune)
