After high school, I enlisted in the Army Reserves and went to Basic Training that fall. I served about one year active duty and another seven years in the active reserves. I attended college on the GI Bill. I went to MSSC (now MSSU) for two years and then transferred to SMSU (now MSU) graduating in May 1994 with a BS in Business Management. My plans of going for an MBA changed, when I saw all of the things happening, even at that time, in the corporate world. During college, and for a year or so after, I worked for Smitty's Supermarkets for a total of five years.
I bought my first house using my VA loan eligibility in Nov 1995, and soon after, began my career in real estate. I have been a full time agent ever since. In the beginning, well for quite a while, it was really rough. Truthfully, I still hate sales and always have. I do like learning and passing it on. I take an educational approach to real estate and help people make decisions during their life changing moments. Over the years, I just keep getting more & more referrals from past clients and business associates.
In the last few years, I have been trying to rebalance my life. Previously, I think I defined myself by this crazy 24/7/365 career. A few major life changes occured at age 35 for me, and from there on, a new chapter begins. I have been enjoying life and living a whole lot more. I really like being outside and getting away from it all. It is easy to find peace & serenity in nature: some trail hiking, some mountain biking, water sports, and some other stuff.
A few years back, I lost a lot of "stuff" in a house fire, so my thinking had already begun to change. This year, at Christmas time, I had another "A-ha moment", when I realized the absolute most important gift is the "gift of time."
Recently, I have been able to combine my passion of: nutrition, helping other people, and giving back to children in need, by joining a company called Terra Biotech.
