Donna and I are retired New Albany Floyd County schoolteachers. Teaching was great! I got to work with some wonderful people every day.
Teaching gave us the opportunity to spend time with our family during the summer. Our daughters showed POAs, Ponies of the Americas. These are Appaloosa ponies. We would show from Oklahoma to Virginia, and Michigan to Florida. Both sets of grand parents had motor homes and attended every show. This was a great way to spend quality time with family. POA’s are for children 18 and younger.
After our daughters started going to college we stopped showing horses and started camping, boating, water skiing. Our favorite places are Cumberland Lake, Dale Hollow Lake, and the Ohio River at Leavenworth, Indiana. I have fished forever and being on the water just seemed natural.
When our girls left home, Donna and I retired, got a fifth wheel camper, and leave home every chance we get. Favorite places are: Holland, Michigan; Savanna, Georgia; and Punta Gorda, Florida.
One daughter has returned home claiming she was doing us a favor. She would be here while we are not. Great idea!
Now we try to spend 3 months in Punta Gorda, Fl. While in Florida we stay in an RV resort not a campground. Campgrounds don’t have a golf course, who knew? Many of the geezers have musical instruments, so I take my Martin and my 2 ½-chord s and sit in on the music jams. Arsen’t life great
