THOMAS CLERE

I have been mainly a college English teacher, with a couple of side forays into business and high school teaching. My wife, two children, and son-in-law all teach English--we must be dull. Adam is our grandson, a little over a year old.

I have only happy memories, not least of band trips. A few of us were musicians (not me), but we had a good time. One time at a regional concert, the mouthpiece of Virgil Hertling's tuba had fallen into my baritone horn, unbeknownst to us, and I wondered why I couldn't even make a sound. Meanwhile he had to pretend to be playing his tuba.
