thats a great idea... now if we can only come up with the cash for that big, looping trip... lets see, we burn 1600lbs per hour, 1 hour to the east coast, 2.5 to new orleans, 1 to tennesse, 1 back home... thats 8800 lbs or 1320 gallons at 6 bucks per... hmmmm... thats $8000, for the fuel plus 10000 for aircraft useage.... about 18000 would cover it sufficiently. plus landing and handling fees and my meal budget and my copilot....

deal, 20k and we can get this done!

crap... I'm out. I can barely afford to gas up my truck to get there.

Well - I guess I am out too. I'm with Jennifer - I can barely afford to put gas in my car - first need to find it here in Tennessee. Since Hurricane Ike - gas has been sparse - actually it is starting to get easier to find now.

Hey CHICAGOnians, CHICAGOans, CHICAGOnads...whatever you call yourselves. What is going on with the Cubs and Sox? I know the Sox aren't very good...but the Cubs weren't supposed to blow it until at least the NLCS.

Oh well, at least you made it to the playoffs unlike the sucky Tigers. Wait till next year!!!!!!!!

Morning kids... you know what time it is - it's time for the song of the day. I was digging for something that I loved as a kid but haven't listened to in nearly 20 years and I found it. Some of you may remember the Buzzcocks but how many of you remember Magazine (the band that Howard Devoto formed after he left the Buzzcocks)? Here's "The Light Pours out of Me" off their 1981 album Play. The intro bassline is amazing. But can you guess who's guitar riff they've reinterpreted into something more menacing? Hint, if you've ever been to a sporting event, you've heard it.

Good morning all. Jen that sounds like Rock and Roll part 2 by Gary Glitter. If I'm right you can mail my free reunion ticket to ...just kidding.

Anyone going to the Michigan vs. Michigan State game on October 25. Bob Majewski and I will be there. Maybe we could hook up and do some tailgating Anchor Bay style.

No more glasses, contacts, or seeing blurry which were the only options I had before. If anyone hasn't done it yet and is thinking about it DO IT!

Jen S.: You are pretty funny yourself!!!!I'm rolling!!!!!

Lisa M.: Do you have a guest bedroom on Bourbon Street?

Rai Ann: How does Friday look?

Is anyone heading out to Algonac State Park for Halloween trick or treating this weekend? Look for me, I'll be the one without glasses :)

Thanks Wendy! Congrats on the shiny new vision. I would love to get that done but it scares the crap out of me.

I love Sunday mornings (yes, this is morning to me since I just got up). Curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee and the cat sleeping on my feet keeping them warm while Lee makes me breakfast. :)

So I was thinking of all the Sunday songs I could pick as the song of the day (Everyday is like Sunday, Sunday Bloody Sunday, etc), but that seemed kind of trite. So instead, I'm picking The Smith's "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" for Lee. When we first started dating he took me out for a ride one night on his Harley and this is the song that popped into my head while we were out riding. I realize that thinking about a song with death as its subject while you're riding a motorcycle is kind of weird but yet that's when I knew that he was "the One".

Oooh, the waffles are done! Have a good Sunday.

ummmm... isnt that the one that goes "...and if a double decker bus, crashes into us, to die by your side..."

or

..."if a ten ton truck, kills the both of us...."

jen, remind me not to ever let you ride on a bike, in a car, or any other mode of transportation with me.... i am already swimming against a strong current of karma as it is...

Sleeper State Park in Caseville? We love that place, too! We've been there for the 4th of July but never for Halloween. I can't wait to see your pictures! Your costumes sound cute!

Anybody else watching the last Wings preseason game on the NHL network? As sad as I am for summer to be over, hockey season restarting makes it all better.

Sarah Riley (Goemaere)

My husband and kids were at the last Red Wings pre season game. We are huge hockey fans in this house. My husband has been a season ticket holder since they played at the Olympia.
Mary your son could be a twin of my nephew. I will try to post a picture of him and see if you agree. Sarah

Sarah - really? That's fun! Yeah post a pic of your nephew!

Sarah - Holy cow, season tickets since they were in the Olympia? Oh man, I'm so jealous. It broke my heart when they tore the big red barn down. We actually went down and saved some bricks. My dad used to take Mike and I to the Olympia as kids. And his dad used to take him there when he was a kid (back when they used to have chicken wire instead of plexiglass around the rink!).

Morning all - it's that time. I realized that the last few songs were a little dark so I'm going to go with something a little lighter today. Before Ministry became the industrial behemoth that they are today, they were as synth-pop as they could get, even adopting faux-British accents. So here's Ministry's "Work for Love" off 1983's With Sympathy:

Work!

(Sorry, there's no real video for the song. Well there is one but it's just not up on YouTube. Odd.)
