Great Chicago News. Leo's Coney Island just opened a location near Wrigley Field. Finally a Detroit style coney in Chicago. A long time coming.

I heard a great joke on Letterman last night. It was the top 10 things George Washington said about Presidents Day. Number 1, (I paraphrase) I can't believe that someday Presidents Day would be used as the day to take advantage of the opportunity to sell mattresses.

As for the Olympics, Is it me or is it hard to follow sports on tape delay? On Sunday , the Daytona 500 took over 6 hours to complete (makes a baseball game seem speedy).

I should be ashamed to say the I love The Bachelor (the show / not necessarily the guy), but I'm not. The idea that 25 women would compete against each other to try to land the same guy (and a relatively regular guy)could only have been invented in Hollywood (a truly fictional show). The thing that I can't understand is why people would be interested in watching the Bachelor"ette". The idea of 25 guys chasing after the same hot girl has been done every weekend (repeatedly) in every college bar for years. Maybe that's the idea, the producers should get the men liquored so we can watch them fail miserably at the pick-up attempts while entertaining us by allowing us to laugh our asses off.

Very nice Kel, two out of three. I will admit that the last one (Stand Up and Cheer) is a tough one. I will give you the following hints though.

1) The quote was in a movie about a ritual that takes place each year by thousands of high school and college kids.

2) The quote referred to a very attractive women.

3) The movie was an 80's movie.

4) There were no known actors

Joe-

I love curling. Lets form an alumni curling club. You'd be a hell of sweeper.

Rocky-

Brunette and above average on the height chart! Cheerleader thing was optional. Maybe would have scored you bonus points....who am I kidding. I couldn't get a date in hs. Spent too much time with my basketball.

Tracey-

First time I've seen "traffic" on here since last fall.

02/18/10 03:35 PM #2076

Joseph Ales

I'm glad o see some traffic. For awhile I thought I was talking to myself. OK it was fun anyway. Besides, the more exclusive a club the more everyone will come back. Who needs facebook.

Mike - as for curling, forget going out on ice (too cold). Lets try it on a dirty gym floor and I'm in.

I still can't guess that stupid quote Joey. You are killing me. I thought I was good at this game.

Mike - looking forward to the golf outing. I need to go practice.

22 years ago this week (3-2-88 through 3-08-88)

This week began spirit week which on 3-2-88 was “Back to the Beach” day at school. Dino wore a pair of flippers all day. Before school, Kelly Rice got into a car accident. Play Practice continued and the Winter sports season was wrapping up.

On 3-3-88 it was “College” Day at school. I wore a Ferris State sweatshirt (where my brother was attending).

On 3-4-88 through 3-6-88 (On Friday in third hour we had an assembly for winter sports. During the assembly the pom-pom squad did a dance. Friday night the Varsity B-Ball team beat LCN to win their 4th and final game of the season. Although the year book shows they only won 3 games however I noted that the yearbook missed the last game. – Who edited that thing anyway?. At the game a group of us brought a banner for John Peck's final game. We got really rowdy and tried to get a technical foul. We failed, but had fun trying. After the game we attempted to carry John off the court but he wouldn’t let us. On Saturday the girl’s volleyball team lost in the district finals. On Sunday (around 2:00pm) I went to watch the “Miss Bay-A-Rama” contest. Jerry Richards was crowned the winner. Tammy Russell came in second. Kelly Olcese came in third and Stacey Hindman came in fourth. That night A group went to the Pistons game and watched the Pistons beat Milwaukee 109-99.

On 3-7-88 The Track season began and the first day of practice was today. The team was led by co-captains Carl Pesta and Jay Lodge. I cant believe we were running outside on 3-7-88.

On 3-8-88 Jeff M complained of soreness from the first track practice. At today’s practice we ran to Cotton Road and back (Jeff was gassing the whole way).

Quotes for the week

-“I know you". "Yeah well here have a pen". "You do those obnoxious commercials….. you’re tall and fat". "Yeah, well you’re short and ugly, give me the pen back.”

-“no, no, with women, I never cry……. I beg”

-“ I’ve come to wish you an un-happy birthday. Because your evil and you lie, and if you would die, I might feel slightly sad, but I won’t cry”

Back to School, Back to School and the Smiths is correct.

Joe,

Have you ever thought about being your own game show host?you kind of remind me of Kramer when he bought the Merv Griffin set and his friends were like guests. Keep up the good work!!

I know many classmates have already turned forty (ouch), but I am wondering if anyone (besides me) is thinking that 40 is the point where saying "I'm still young" is a bit of a delusion?? Forget about "I still feel young", aren't we smack dab in the Middle of "Middle-age". For me personally, I don't see me bucking the actuarial table and making it past 80, so I can't help but think the back half is under way. Perhaps I need a trip to Florida so that it can make me feel like I'm a long way from that point (any one who's been in Florida outside of spring break knows what I mean). Or maybe I'm just a cranky (crotchety) old man?
