James Farr

Received BS in CS in 1995. Worked as a programmer at Rollins Leasing in Wilmington and Travelers Bank in Newark before becoming a consultant. Joined an internet start up in Silicon Valley in 1998 (the dot com boom from 1998 - 2000 was a great time in San Jose). Moved to Southern California in 1998 and live 25 miles NE of Los Angeles. Married Shelly in 1995 (met at Chi-Chi's in Newark while in college) and have two kids Ryan (7) and Lauren (4). I work in the software field for Escalate Retail www.escalate.com. I'm either working out of the home office or at a client. I am currently working with Hot Topic Inc. and helped launch their new music website www.shockhound.com.

I have traveled quite a bit working with clients in the Netherlands, China, England and various US cities.

I've coached AYSO soccer and baseball for the past few years (soccer team went 8-1, which I'm sure was not as good as Penn's soccer record right?!?)

Earthquakes freak me out.. our house shook a few times but the largest I've been near was a magnitude 5.4 which I was the only one in the entire office that did not dive under the desk. (Hey, I'm from the east coast ok?!?) (Was mesmerized they way the entire roof was moving up and down)... I still get calls from mom for any earthquake or wildfire in California reported on CNN. (Which my response is... it's a big state.) I guess we have to pay for the sunshine somehow...

As for food they have NO IDEA what Blue Crabs or Scrapple are out here. Although, I go to Philly's Best often to get a good cheese steak. (Amoroso rolls and Tasty Kake flown in from the east coast)

Still root for the Birds and watch them every week. LA likes their Lakers and Dodgers but no comparison to a sports town like Philly.

I still stay in touch with Tracy Norris who has been out a number of times and is a great friend. We go on adventures in the desert (Joshua Tree) or take in a Rush show at the Hollywood Bowl.
