I graduated in 1988, attended the University of WI, Eau Claire for undergraduate studies in Vocal Performance. Then, I headed off to study at the University of MN, where I received my masters in voice. I lived there several years, singing professionally, until I finally made the move to NYC. Immediately, things took off, and I was busy singing all over the world, traveling to beautiful locations, and getting paid to do what I love to do...sing. I was even lucky enough to sing a lead role at the Metropolitan Opera in NYC, a moment I will never forget, as all my elementary and high school music teachers were there to see me! Then, after 8 years, I finally decided I had enough of the cement and needed nature. I moved to DC. May 2009 I flew to Beijing and fell in love with China. I decided to give up my US address, and lived there about a year, performing in the US and China, while flying back and forth between the two almost every 3-4 weeks. In December 2010, I decided it was just too much time spent on a plane. Nathan and I moved back to DC that month, and I still have mixed emotions about it. We are happy to be back in the US with access to email (it was always blocked in China), and foods we grew up with, yet miss China's culture, foods, and bodywork (2 hour massage for about $20). What a whirlwind year it has been for both of us. I recommend everyone take a trip to China before the exchange rate changes. It's beautiful in spring and summer! Now happily living in DC, and keeping busy performing and traveling. Nathan and I are talking engagement after 8.5 years of being together... Keep your fingers crossed for me.
