Dini Sills Rieger

Graduated K.U. in 1964, taught school for several years.

Married Lynn Weas in 1963, we have two children, a son, Toby and a daughter Molly. Our children married brother/sister and each have a son and a daughter (so these grandchildren are "double cousins" I guess!)

We divorced and our lives took separate paths.

George Rieger and I were married 26 years ago, and these have been 26 wonderful years. We joined his five children, my two children and now I have not only 4 grandchildren, but 14 step-grandchildren. There is never a dull moment.

I'm always proud and happy to tell anyone interested, "where I'm from". Growing up in Newton and going to the Newton schools left me with fond memories. I remember well walking to Roosevelt School for the first day of Kindergarten, then going to Cooper School for the rest of grade school.

Getting to stop in at Woolworths 5&10 for a caramel apple to eat while walking home after school was a real treat.

Having some of the same teachers at Newton High who remembered having my mother in class was sometimes good, sometimes not so good! I think she was a better student than I was.

The memories are good and I feel we were fortunate to be in the environment we were in back then, compared to some of the school stories you hear now a days. Do I sound my age with that last comment???
