Cheryl and I were friends from 4th grade at school # 4. We loved to ride our bikes together and take "nose bag" lunches down past school 8 into the unknown wilds of Oceanside. One of my fondest memories of Cheryl was the time I was her page turner at a piano concert at OHS. We both dressed to the nines, and because I did not read music she would have to cough to alert me to turn the page. Before Cheryl passed, I hadn't seen her for many years, but for her 50th birthday, her Mom Eunice called me and asked me to be the surpise guest at her birthday party. The surprise for me was that I was the only guest other than family. We had a wonderful visit remembering our years as friends,  sportsnite, field hockey, Miss Burkle, Mrs. Cherry and modern dance. We laughed so hard we cried, it was a wonderful gift to me only to become more special when I received a call about six months later, from her family that she had passed. Even in her death Cheryl remained a loving and caring person by donating her organs to help others. Both Cheryl and her husband Jack served in foriegn countries and Cheryl taught English as a second language in Washington DC . She is missed by many and is a dear friend that changed my life for the good.
