I have a very clear vision of Richard and Robert walking down Oceanside Road together headed for School # 5. From our first meeting, probably in Mrs. Grimshaw's kindergarten to 1963 graduation the twin brothers were the very quintessence of gentlemen and an honor for me to know. Like so many lost touch with through the years it is with great sadness that I communicate at this time. Richard was a dear man and an important childhood friend and member of our Oceanside community. My condolences to you Robert and all the Gallagher family at this difficult time.

                                                                                      With sincerest sympathy, Jim

As much as I always enjoy speaking with good friend Bob Gallagher... his phone call to me yesterday was not a happy one. Richie now gone?... How can this be?.. The world is now a far poorer place...

Richie and brother Bob where close friends of mine from our bicycle days. I knew their family well, and thought the world of theml. We shared many adventures and misadventures both in and out of school. Pranks, silliness, cupcakes thrown on the ceilings and worse... as we joyfully grew up together. Bringing a car full of fireworks back from the city in Brian Moriarty's old Chevy got all 3 of us arrested and put in jail. Labeled as a "bad influence"... Richie's mother held me responcible, but eventually forgave me. I can still see Brian chuckling in amusement at the befuddled police who tried their hardest to teach us a lesson.. Ha Ha... and now I can laugh at it too!

Richie was joyfull, and full of exuberance, enthusiasm, and real affection for others! I loved his smile, his laughter, and his sense of humor. With the Gallagher brothers, I learned to love both Scungili and Rum & Cokes, ceremonialy consumed at the Villa Rose in RVC on Merrick Road.

First cars, First loves... Richie and Bob were there. I cherish all of those memories Richie... and wherever you now are... I miss and love you as a friend, and a member of "MY" family! Please check in on us once in a while old pal, and make a silly face! We'll see you again............. Roger

I feel obligated to reach out to so an enlightened spirit as Richie for his love of life at a young age as we were yet so vulnerable and naive and full of the Holy Spirit only in our case at the inoportune time. You have redeemed yourself with a very fruitful family and off spring to carry on your adventurous endeavors , I am proud to have met your acquaintance Richard and may you be the hands of God as you deserve to be ,Amen , Brian

I remember Richie with great fondness, and especially remember his twinkling eyes, and all around kindness. He was one of the first members of our website, and was very excited about the reunion. He had hoped to attend, but as it got closer, he sent an email saying unfortunately his health wouldn't allow him to travel. Richie told me how much he enjoyed looking at the reunion photos, and the opportunity to reconnect with friends through the website.

Sending deep condolences to his brother Bob, and the entire Gallagher family.
