Parry Willard

Where in the world is George Ambrose?  I've been looking forward to seeing him, and it looks like he's a no-show.  Does anyone know where he is?

Danny, fine piece of writing there. I too have great pride in Ben Lomond and our graduating class! There was a wonderful feeling of friendship at BL in 1962. - Over the years I've kept up with a few classmates (too few) but am looking forward to seeing those who come to the reunion. Like you I have a zest for life, play golf, swim, write historical fiction, still listen to Rock and Roll music, love old cars and enjoy my children and grand children. My brothers and sister are all still living and reside in Ogden all within 10 minutes of each other. I'm the only one who strayed...Houston Texas for crying out loud!. Heavy Traffic, high crime, humidity (ugh) But friendly people, genuine Southern hospitality, no state taxes, Oil is king and un-employment low. Brisk economy, reasonable housing costs, on and off shore Fishing in Galveston and Texas City, and year round golf. I will always miss the mountains of Utah, the beautiful sceanery, the crisp dry air and four seasons. Oh for a white Christmas!

Parry, I searched Face Book several months ago for missing classmates and found George Ambrose.  I sent him a message in April, but haven't received a response.  Here is additional information for George:

Lives in North Fork, Idaho

He's city administrator for the City of Salmon

Married to Tam Ambrose

He listed his high school as Ben Lomond Class of 1962, so I know it's the same George we're looking for.

Hope this information helps, and it's not too late to get in touch with him.

I've also enjoyed reading your messages Steve, Dan, Mike and Parry.  See you on Saturday.

Classmates,

This was the first reunion tha I received information on.  I planned on attending but after surgery my doctor said no. I'm so glad the reunion was a big success.  I did a poor job of keeping in touch with my classmates and for that I'm very sorry.  I enjoyed reading the classmate profiles and it brought  back many great memories.  Looking forward to the 55 year reunion. Best wishes to all and I hpoe to see you all in five years.

DEAR SCOTS OF 62,

IT WAS SO WONDERFUL TO SEE ALL OF YOU AT THE REUNION. WE ALL HAD CHANGED A LITTLE ON THE OUTSIDE, BUT INSIDE WE WERE ALL THE SAME OLD GOOBERY KIDS WE WERE THEN. I WAS SO, SO GLAD WE MADE THE EFFORT TO GET THERE AND I'M SURE YOU ALL WERE ALSO. I WISH EVERYBODY COULD HAVE BEEN THERE, EVEN THOSE WHO HAVE PASSED ON. AFTER NOT SEEING EACH OTHER  FOR 50 YEARS, IT SEEMS LIKE WE ALL PICKED UP JUST WHERE WE LEFT OFF. WE ALL SHOULD BE PROUD OF OUR BEN LOMOND HERITAGE, OUR CLOSENESS AND  ALL THAT WE HAVE BECOME BECAUSE OF OUR EXPERIENCES AT THAT WONDERFUL SCHOOL. WE ALL HAVE LEAD SUCH VARIED LIVES, BUT WE ALL ARE WHERE WE NEED TO BE AND IT'S ALL GOOD IN THE END, AND IF IT'S NOT GOOD, THEN IT'S NOT THE END!

TAKE CARE, OLD FRIENDS, AND PERHAPS WE'LL MEET AGAIN AT THE 55TH,...XOXO SUSIE

Hey classmates,

At our age most of us are retired.  Please say from what.  We have a  great class, and your occupation is of interest.

Thanks.

I want to add my praise and thanks to all the people who organized the reunion.  It is an effort and expense also to keep the web site going which I will support as soon as I figure out how.  I'm not very efficient at the internet yet.  I want to let you all know that we have very thoughtful, caring classmates who used this site to wish me happy birthday this week.  You are wonderful.  Susan, I am so glad you postponed your surgery so you could be at the reunion.  I was able to visit with many people I knew then and some I had not known.  Speedy recovery to you.

If any of you want to add to this type of entry, please do.  It is:  "I Remember".  I remember being in the stands at a football game (in my pep club uniform).  It was probably a Friday afternoon and there must have been a dance that evening.  Carol Munson came climbing up the bleachers.  She must have just come from having her hair done and she had a "wind bonnet" over her hair.  Remember those?  Well, a bunch of boys in the bleachers yelled out, "Carol, what's that on your head, etc., etc."  She blushed and pulled it off.  I remember her face so clearly.  It was so funny.  Carol, where are you?  I acquired a wind bonnet a while back and I saved it for you.  I will mail it to you.   Janet Harris Eller

Janet I love your idea!   I REMEMBER.........passing lots of notes!

Here's a fun one  (yes do you believe I still have some)   After 50 years I'm hopeing those named will not mind.

Madda.......".Hi.  What do you think about all those kids that got in trouble?  Gee I'll bet those Ogden kids are mad!  I think it's funny.  I'll bet they were planning on doing it to us tonight.   They're probably just mad cause we did it first.    Me"

Ruth........" Ya maybe they'll still do it.  Who did it?  I only know of a couple."

Madda......."The ones I know of are:  Shanna Goodman, Marilyn Kinsman, Janille Brown, Deanna Mohlin, Pam Rothey  and some other girl named Pam.  But I heard that Art Jones and Cliff Cahoon were in on it too."

Ruth........"Golly Art Jones and Cliff /Cahoon?  Golly!"

Madda......"I heard that they were on their way up there and their car broke down, so they couldn't make it.    But Gee I would have done it, wouldn't you?  I think it's very funny.  They're up there scrubbing it off right now."

Ruth........".Ya I think it's funny in a way, but I wouldn't dare do it."

Madda......."Oh wouldn't you do it if you were with a bunch if kids?  I think just about the whole  'Poster Party'was in on it.   I think it would be a blast and they didn't use anything really damaging.  Just shoe polish and water colors and stuff."

Ruth........"Oh Golly I thought it was paint or something like that.   I bet it would be fun with a whole group.  How many words did you miss in the spelling test?"

Madda......."One...All right...how many did you miss?  I thought it was kind of a dumb test.  What are you gonna wear to the game?"

Ruth........"Welllllll Two but I really knew them.  I don't know if I'm going....Capris I guess."

Madda....."Gad it's gonna be so cold. I'll probably wear a sweatshirt and car coat or something/.

DO YOU REMEMBER ?

Shanah Goodman (Michaelson)

What a kick!  I remember that night very well.  Had so much fun.  The next day at school, after denying that I was involved,  looked down at my shoes and had white shoe polish on my brown loafers.   While we were cleaning up our mess, all the cool guys like Joe Buehler and Barry Bingham came outside and told us that they were planning an assembly so that we could apologize to the whole student body.  The assembly didn't happen, but we were sure nervous.

The hi jinx occured the night befor the Iron Horse game.

Speaking of hair - a remembrance - One Saturday I had gotten my hair done.  I was down on Washington Blvd. window shopping and Russell Nebeker passed me.  He said, "Janet, your hair looks really nice."  I was so flustered but so flattered that he had noticed.  Being VERY SHY in those days, I never got up the courage to go to a dance, but if I had, I would have loved to dance with Russell Nebeker because he was so tall.  Russell, where are you?  Wish you had been at the reunion; hope you're dancing.  Janet Harris Eller

Dear Classmates,

Just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving.  The reunion was so great and it was fun to be there.  I kept thinking for days after what a good time it was.  Thanks to all who contributed in any way especially Shannah and Karen and all on the committee.   Thanks to Pete and Karen for the website and keeping it up.

I talked to Russ Nebeker before the reunion and he told me he was going to try to make it.  Something must have come up.  He was always so fun in school and it would have been great if he was at the reunion.  I will keep trying to get him to the next one if I am still alive.  He lives in Ogden.

It was fun to have all of our officers there.  Arnie had to come from Hawaii.  Thanks Arnie.  Lucille and Earl would have been proud of you.  Happy holidays to everyone.    Dale Thompsen

Thanks Dale, what a great idea as I also want to wish all our classmates a Happy Thanksgiving.  And add how grateful I am for all those who were able to make it to the reunion, wish I could have visited with even more and for  longer.  What a wonderful group of people to be connected too.  Also thankyou again to all those who were instruments in making the reunion possible.  Another wonderful memory from Ben Lomond class of '62!

I too wish everyone the best in health and happiness for the holidays and the new year.

I so enjoyed helping to make the reunion a reality.  So much fun working with our great classmates.  I must let

everyone know of the work that Susie Stitzer Ward contributed.  I caught her at a rather vulnerable time in her life

when she had more time than good sense.  Thanks to her we were able to use our detective skills to track down

alot of folks.  Looking forward to the 55th.  Please keep the committee appriased of any classmate connections.

Hi everyone from the class of '62:

I should have posted this note sooner, but later is better than never.  I loved our 50th renunion.  Thanks to all who made it possible.  I hope that you feel like all the work you put in was worth it.  Fifty years is a long time and I know that when we graduated, a fifty year reunion was the last thing on our minds.  We were just excited to begin the official trip to adulthood.  I wish all of us had made it to the reunion.  I recognized many faces and names, but also had to read name tags to jog my memory.  I was taken way back by seeing so many of you (not enough of you though).  Ogden has changed much, but it was fun to remember some of you from elemetary school, Mound Fort Jr. High, and Ben Lomond, of course.  My cousin, Sharyl Harbertson McHugh, was and is still my best friend along with Pat Torman Nelson who I met at my new neighborhood school bus stop the second term of 7th grade.  I had just moved into our new home and felt quite alone.  Meeting Pat was great and we along with Sharyl became a threesome thoughout our school years and have continued to be good friends.  Pat and I were at the reunion, but Sharyl was in the midst of her chemo treatment for breast cancer and did not have the energy to come.  I am happy to say that Sharyl has now finished her chemo and radiation and is regaining her energy.  We are sure  she will be with Pat and I at our 55th reunion.  I have enjoyed reading about everyone who posted info on the website.  I feel like we have had a great and successful class.  We had a small class, but that gave us the opportunity to know each other better.  I am proud to be a 1962 graduate from Ben Lomond High School.  When you drive by, BL sure has changed on the outside.  I hope the students who attend now will feel the pride we did and do still.  Thanksgiving is now past, but I know I have much to be thankful for and I know we all have much to be thankful for.  Thanksgiving is a time given to us to reflect on our many blessings.  i hope we all took that opportunity.  We are now all in the midst of Christmas preparation (I don't want to be sexist, but I know we women do more than you lovely men).  May you all have a wonderful happy and healthy Christmas, and may we all have a healthy and happy New Year.  May 2013 be good for all of us and our posterity.   Now if we could have some snow.......Donna

Dear Classmates,

I saw Joan Pett's (Douglas) obituary in the paper today.  She passed away on February 3rd,2013, from complications of a surgery.  Her viewing is today at Lindquists mortuary.

She is survivied by her husband Richard, 48 years married, and two children.

I thought those who didn't see the obituary would like to know.

Joan was a sweet girl and a great addition to our class of 1962.  She always had a smile for me when I saw her in the hall or other places.   Dale Thompsen
