Shanah Goodman (Michaelson)

On a very sad note,  Today was a graveside service for Kenny Frew, the son of Ken Frew and Bonnie Monson Frew.

He died as a result of a motorcycle accident.  My love and prayers go out to the family.  Lets keep our loved ones close.

We have no guarantees.

DEAR BONNIE AND KENNY,

I WAS SO SADDENED TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR DEAR SON. IT SEEMS LIKE WE CAN NEVER ANTICIPATE THE TWISTS AND TURNS OUR LIVES WILL TAKE. I PRAY FOR YOUR PEACE. HOW LUCKY HE WAS TO HAVE GOOD PEOPLE LIKE YOU TWO FOR PARENTS. I HOPE YOU WILL TAKE COMFORT IN THE HAPPY MEMORIES YOU HAVE OF HIM. GOD DOES NOT GIVE US WHAT WE CAN HANDLE, BUT RATHER HELPS US HANDLE WHAT WE ARE GIVEN.  MY LOVE TO YOUR FAMILY, SUSAN STITZER WARD

Frank, Dan, & Ruth,

Thanks for your timely Holliday Post. I would also like to post a Holliday message to any B. L. SCOTT STILL ACTIVE ON THE SITE. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A VERY GOOD NIGHT!

FRANK, If you don't mind my asking as a Viet Nam Vet, I would love to know your sons story. I hear so many stories about the adverse affect of Oboma's policies, & O Boma's Health care's impact on our Wonded Warriors program. I am trying to determan if the impact is real and to what extent.

MY best to your son and Semper FI

Thanks for updating all the classmate information into the web.  You have done a lot of research.

Sandra Bramwell (Terry)

You're welcome.  I got all of this from Facebook/Remember Ben Lomond High School.  Most updates for the Class of '62 website have been put on "Classmate Profiles" or "In Memory," but Carolyn and Lorraine are classified as missing with no way of me adding something to their page.  Actually updates were available for the following people, which I placed on our website also:  Mike Callahan, Bonnie Dransfield, Carolyn Emmert, Shirley Fuit, Bob Gailey, Geri Gerritson, Vern Grazer, Virgil Greenwood, Gil Hestmark, Jack Hobson, Grant Horsley, Richard Sawa, Richard Smuin, Willie Oones, Karen Swainer, and Paul Van Alfen.  According to the obituaries, it looks like there are two misspelled names:  Willy Oenes and Karen Swaner.  I hope all are named here because the list was very extensive for Ben Lomond and that wasn't my original intention.

Dan Hutchinson:  Before the magical "network" gets overloaded, I want to wish you a HAPPY BIRTHDAY from myself and all of our classmates who have received your messages over the past year.  It's a gift which is truly worth more than gold - to have someone remember you and care enough to let you know.  Many, many people remember you and care about you.  Have a blessed day.  Janet

Hi Dan,

I'm one of those lazy sluggo "non responders", but I was fascinated with your report on your experience in Cyprus and the historical background.  I'm somewhat envious of your real world experiences that most of us just get to read about.  ( I would like to have lunch with you and find out if you are the real Jack Ryan.)   Keep those stories coming.

I did read Steve Nielsen's first book. (Remember,  I am a non-responder).  It was a good read, and I liked the geographic and historical perspective.  I have Danish Mormon ancestry (named Nielsen) as well.

Are you in Bogota?  I thought about you last month--as my son spent a week in Bogota doing IT setup for an American business starting a factory there.

Hope to hear more from you.

Parry Willard

Dan:  That's quite a puppy you have.  If you had more fur on your arms, there would be no problem.  But to get back to your original concern - the lack of civility in modern life.  I confess to being in the dark ages with current technology.  The most up-to-date I get with communication is email.  By choice, I know nothing about facebook or any of the other versions.  But with email, for example, I think that one of the advantages is that it's instant.  One of the disadvantages is that it is instant.  So lots of people don't take the time to "cool down" and think about what they want to say.  Another thing about it is that it's in many ways "anonymous".  Many people will do or say things to a "stranger" that they wouldn't do or say face-to-face.  This is a great problem with this modern technology in my opinion.  I opt out of much of it.  Sometimes I go days or even weeks without checking my computer.  But it is a great tool and it allows me and you to be in touch again after over 50 years and thousands of miles.  As with most things in life, this technology is a mixed blessing and we're just beginning to learn how to manage it.  I'm sure we'll get better.  By the way, speaking of out-dated technology, if you can get public radio, there is a program called "On Being" hosted by Christa Tippet.  It comes on here on Sunday mornings at 7:00.  She interviews really interesting people and there is good discussion about just such things as we're talking about.  Happy 70th.  Janet

Hi Dan,

Love that puppy of yours.  I have becomke such a dog person in the past few years.  I have a Cavaleir King Charles Spaniel.  The other day she caught and ate a bird.  I tried to get it away from her but she took one chomp and it was gone.  Boy was she proud of herself.

Have a wonderful week.

Hi everyone.

OK, I will participate.  I - like Dan really enjoy hearing from any and all of you.  Janet I am not computer savy.but luckely My son is pretty helpful.   Have you been doing any theater lately?  I should have tryed that.  My mother used to tell me to stop being so dramatic.  Ha Ha.

Marti...I LOVE the King Charles and always wanted one.  Got a Cocker as a gift and when he died I couldn't bear to have another.

My daughter has a  Chinese Crested.  He is so ugly....he's adorable.  His name is Bentley.  He really requires a lot of care.  Baths, lotion, sun screen and what not.  My daughter decided Bently needed some comanionship while she is at work all day.  So we drove to Philly to get a Sphynx.  Again he is ugly adorable with a very different personality from a regular cat.  He's young and wild, so poor Bently cannot tolerate him.  He chews on my daughters ear at night.  Freaky cat.

I really havent lived an exciting life .  Some of you have really done a lot.  But I can write silly stuff. And hope I can hear silly stuff from the rest of you.

Love to you all    Ruth

Ruth,

I love Cavaliers too.  I had two that were married on the Today show in 2008.  It was for a pet charity.  My two old married couple passed earlier this year.  I thank the universe that I was smart enough to adopt mi Olivia.  Your daughter is so lucky to have a little Cavalier they are just so mello.  Although they are spaniels and Miss Olivia caught and ate a bird the other day before I had a chance to try and rescue the bird.  She was so pleased.

I was iin SLC this past weekend visiting my daughter and mty two grandchildren.  For those of us who have left Utah how was it we,  or me, never appreciated the beauty of the mountains.

Well, I guess I will jump in and see what happens.  My hubby and I sold the farm so to speak and bought a normal house in a normal neighborhood.  It is actually the first time that we have had neighbors in our back yard.  All our neighbors are great, but it has taken some getting used to.  We still live in West Point, but all animals are gone except our beloved dog (speaking of dogs, seems like a popular subject at the moment).  We have a blue heeler named Bandit.  She is getting older like we are and the move has been difficult for her as well as for us, but we have all adjusted.  Bandit used to every morning and evening run down to the barn to bark at the horse and goats, letting everyone know who was important.  Now she just goes out into the backyard and if she is lucky and the dog of the neighbor's behind us is out they run up and down the fence trying to prove who is most important.  She is a very loyal dog and if Charlie is at one end of the house and I at the other, she lays in the hallway in between so she can keep track of us both.  Enough of dogs.  I also am trying to be more techy person.  My son told me several years ago that if I wanted to be a modern grandma, I had to go on facebook.  Well, I took the challenge and did.  I am not so sure it made me modern, but It helps me keep up with family and friends.  I have just updated from iPad 1 to 4.  They are both smarter than me, but I am determined to get better.  I found a touchfire keyboard online and have ordered one.  I am tired of typing with one or two fingers.  I guess I will have to practice using it when I get it, to get some speed, but I intend to get at least a C in the class.  I will let you know my progress in a few weeks.  I also have a smart phone, but again, i think my phone is smarter, but love having it and plan to upgrade when our contract runs out.  Just wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed reading this forum page.  By the way how many of you have moved to St. George for the winter?  Seems like quite a few.  I try to go down every February.  Maybe we could have a mini-reunion.  Just a thought.  P. S.  The wind is blowing like crazy outside my window.  All kinds of things flying in the air.  One person who tried to be efficient and put out their garbage cans have send all their garbage and cans down our cul de sac.  I feel sorry for our neightbors who live at the end of our road, and for once am glad that Charlie and I are not that efficient.  Donna Harbertson Persinger

Dan,

I can't believe you know Rupert.  That is where my mom was from.  A couple of years ago we took her back and her family home is still there and has been kept up beautifully.

Donna,  Yes it is a dogs world.  I am glad Bandid it adjusting.  I love older dogs because you know that they have most likely had a wonderful life and brought joy to a loving family.

Martie
