Dan, you brought tears to my eyes. Seriously. Thank you my dear friend from the past! And Clare, that is a wonderful idea! Going forward; 500 hard copies of a magazine from EC Publishing featuring a 1/4 page ad showing Hebrew Gold, will be passed out at a Book Festival symposium in Frankfurt Germany this October 19th - 23rd and 500 hard copies of the same will be passed out at the Festival of Books in Las Vegas NV October 22nd. I am humbled to have this happen and hope that my little book will touch a few hearts because of that plus the one I'll be at in New York November 2 - 4th. You guys are so great! Thanks sincerely. Wish me luck.

Thank you Steve for the update.  It helps us to share in your marvelous experience.  I know the good Lord will attend you and bless you.  I'll continue to pray for that and am sure others will also.

Hi Ferron, I'm not published yet.  About two years ago I sent a few chapters to Gary to get his views on what I had written.  Before I can publish I have to get security clearence from the CIA.  I'm trying to get back in the writing groove to finish the book.

If and when I get published, you can rest assured you'll get a copy from me.

Definitely would be a best seller! Thanks Dan

Karen, is your grandson still on his mission to Cochabamba, Bolivia?  I think many here would enjoy hearing of his experiences.

Hi Classmates. Thank you for the wonderful response at the last reunion. I am so looking forward to the next reunion and all the preparation involved in the process. It was a fun project and the amazing reward was getting in touch and meeting with you all.  Stay safe, and healthy, and take great care till we meet again. Here's wishing you Happy Holidays...

See you at the 80th Birthday Party.

Clara Profaizer (Taylor)

Yes, Charlotte, I think everyone who attended the 60th Year Class Reunion thoroughly enjoyed getting together with their "old" friends and classmates.  It was welll worth the fun times we committee members had putting it all together.  I hope the 80th Birthday Party Celebration in September 2024 will be as much -- or more -- enjoyable and that we get as goood of a turnout. I just read Steve Nielsen's  email that Dale Hartley recently passed away -- another classmate added to our Memory List. We all need to remember: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, and today is a gift -- that's why they call it the present." Take care, stay safe, and stay healthy. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

That was lovely Clara.

Another from my Bolivian Jewish friend, Mario.

"THESE ARE VERY FUNNY-HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

"The last idiot is the winner for me!"

Yes, it's that magical time of year again when the Darwin Awards are bestowed, honoring the least evolved among us.

Here is the glorious winner:
When his .38 caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a hold-up in Long Beach, California would-be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder.
He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked.
The honorable mentions:

The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine and after a little shopping around, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company expecting negligence sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine and he also lost a finger The chef's claim was approved.

A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her.

After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Bulawayo had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride.
He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days.

An American teenager was in the hospital recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit.

A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, put a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer $15.
[If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, is a crime committed?]

Seems an Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd just throw a cinder block through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So, he lifted the cinder block and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinder block bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. The liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape.

As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, Yes, officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from.

The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan at 5 A.M., flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren't available for breakfast... The frustrated gunman walked away.

When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle street by sucking on a hose, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find a very sick man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline, but he plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had and the perp had been punished enough!

In the interest of bettering mankind, please share these with friends and family... unless of course one of these individuals by chance is a distant relative or long-lost friend. In that case, be glad they are distant and hope they remain lost.

Yes, Mario is a dear friend.  His mother and father live in Israel.  He and his brother, Wolf, travel from Bolivia once a year to visit.

We met as Master Masons in the only English speaking lodge in Bolivia.  Mario and Wolf own a successful fabric company, doing very well, yet just humble everyday guys.

Ferron, Thank you.  I tell a lot of "Dad" jokes to the customers who come through my cashier line at Lowe's.  I like having them leave the store chuckling, and say, it's nice to start off the year with a little humor.

My most recent: Son, goes to his father and says "Dad I got a part in the school play.  I am playing a man who has been married for 25 years".  Father: "Great son, but perhaps next year you can get a speaking part".

Speaking of Congress; did you hear Ruger has come out with a new pistol, called the Congress.  It dosen't work.  (there's a little more to it, but this is the gist).

A speaking part in a marriage! That is a joke. Thanks Dan. Good ones eh Ferron.

Dan, Sorry to be so slow in responding to you. Yes, our grandson is still in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He has loved his mission; will be home in July. He was AP for a long time, then got transferred to Sucre. He and his comp had some success there. Now he's back in Cocha. He wrote he was in Cosmos. (Is that a place in Cocha?) Anyway, he's doing well. Karen

Karen, there isn't a city or providence named Cosmos.  The only Cosmos I'm aware of is a pharmacy i Cochabamba.

Karen Peterson (Belliston)

In his email at Christmastime, our grandson wrote that he was thankful to be in the best ward of Cosmos. Maybe it's Cosmos Ward.

Yes perhaps -- may be you can have hiim clarify.

For Dan's Information:

Here's what I learned from my missionary grandson in Cochabamba, Bolivia:

The weather is pretty rainy right now but it's super fun.

Cosmos is a ward down in Alalay. It's by the avenida Suecia. There's a big hill that's called Alto Cochabamba and that's were Cosmos is. The missionary work is awesome! We've seen many miracles and have been blessed with great people in the ward.

Dan, Does that clarify the location of Cosmos for you? If not, that's the best I can do. Maybe you ought to go down there and visit. Take my grandson some cookies if you go! Best wishes, Karen

Daniel Hutchinson

Yes, Karen.  I'm not personally familiar with that area, but my wife said it's in an area where there are predominately indiginous folks.  Good people, but not an area where we used to frequent. It does clarify it.

I only lived in Cochabamba for two years; given more time I'm sure I'd know more about the area.  Cochabamba, itself isn't very big, which is in large part why I liked it there so much. Jane and I have even been entertaining the idea of moving back to Cochabamba - just knocking it around right now, but if things get much worse here in the States, it may become a more viable consideration.  Albeit, the political turmoil in Bolivia right now will need to change for us to get serious about a move.

Well Steve, I know several of us would love to hear about your book signings with Hebrew Gold.  How did it all turn out?
