
Donna Barnhart Jones
Also known as Barney, Donna, 67, passed away August 16, 2007.
She was born in Omaha, Nebraska to the late Grace and Harold Barnhart on January 14, 1940. She moved to Dallas, Texas when she turned 18 to work as a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines. She raised a family in Texas and lived there for most of her adult life. She has been a resident of Jacksonville for five years.
Donna was preceded in death by her daughter, Laura Lee, in 2003 and her brother Ron in 2000. She is survived by her loving husband Wally Jones, her surviving daughter, Roxanne (Rocky) Schwartz, her son-in-law, Keith Schwartz, grandsons - Stephen and Jake Schwartz and Makena and Stellan Haddick, her brother, Dave Barnhart and many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous loving friends.
Donna met her husband at an antique car show in 1995. Their mutual attraction blossomed into marriage. Among the many activities they enjoyed together was showing their cars in several events including the CONCOURS d'ELEGANCE at Amelia Island, Meadowbrook Hall in Michigan and Pebble Beach in Monterey, CA. Wally quips, "It was always Donna that the judges remembered". She will be remembered for her courage, zest for life, sense of humor, fantastic cooking and hospitality. She was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 1:00 at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL. Barney requested that donations be made to the Northeast Florida Community Hospice Foundation in lieu of flowers. The address is 4114 Sunbeam Road, Suite 101, Jacksonville, FL 32257.
