Calling all members of the class of 1988 who are living in or near the ATL area. Dawn and I were thinking about having a mini reunion here before the Aug. 1 events. Hit one of us up by email and let us know if you are interested and we can proceed with the details. God bless.

I'm definitely interested in catching up with The Great '88 that are in the Atlanta area. Let's get together for a simple after work social some time soon.

Anybody heard from Tom Oliver or William "Bubba" Faust. I don't see their names listed. They were some cool guys back in the day and it would be cool for hearing from them.

If any of you are available this Saturday, April 26 from 1:30-2:30PM, my volunteer organization (Black Child Development Institute) is hosting our 9th annual Entering the College Zone workshop to help prepare kids for college at Clark Atlanta University Henderson Student Center. We are in DESPERATE need of African American Career Role Models to have lunch with 4-9 at-risk middle school students from 1:30-2:30PM and talk about your career and the importance of your college experience. Lunch is free and the students are always awesome! If you are interested, please contact me ASAP at 678-612-5851 or dawn.cooper@usg.edu. You can also see the website for more details at www.bcdi-atl.org/college-zone.html. It's just an hour and it would make a tremendous difference in the lives of these kids. Thanks!!

Hello class of 88. As you guys well know the foreclosure crisis has reached historic numbers. Orangeburg is projected to me one South Carolina's largest foreclosure towns. What can we do? Please tell everyone you can who is needing help saving their home or if the are in some bad loans with variable rates, high rates or they are in foreclosure for whatever reason. Please have the go to naca.com and sign up for the 08/14/2008 workshop that is to be held at Claflin University. NACA just effectively counseled over 20,000 homeowners in danger of losing their home in Washington DC. Why can't we do it for Orangeburg? PRIDE! But is pride more important than saving their home. Please email, call, text or whatever to everyone you know in Orangeburg loking to buy or needs to save their home. This is my only shot to prove this and I don't want us to miss out on our best opportunity. Come out and here the program it doesn't cost a thing!

Just a little message I would like to share. I hope everyone enjoys it.

So you would like to interview me?” God asked.

“If you have the time”, I said. And God smiled, “My time is eternity.” “What questions do you have for me?”

“What surprises you most about mankind?”

God answered, “They get bored with childhood, they rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.

“They lose their health to make money, and then lose their money to restore their health.

“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither in the present nor the future. That they live as if they’ll never die, and die as though they had never lived.”

God’s hand took mine and we were silent for a while.

And then I asked, “As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”

“To learn they can’t make others love them. All they can do is let themselves be loved. To learn that it is not good to compare themselves with others. To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness. To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love, and it can take many years to heal them. To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least. To learn that there are people who love them dearly, but simply do not yet know how to express or show their feelings. To know that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently. To learn that its not enough that they forgive one another, but they must forgive themselves.

Thank you for your time, I said humbly. Is there is anything else you’d like your children to know?”

God smiled and said . . . “Just know that I’m here. Always.”
