I knew Cheryl through Carol Durkin. She always seemed to be smiling.  She obviously was a successful warrior for God taking care of his (or her) often often forgotten children.  Prayers for the family. Damn getting to be about that age, I guess, friends.

Folks,

Oh how sad; three points if i may;

1.  I remember Doug as one of the funniest kids i ever met. Whenever homeroom started, which I think was probably junior year, Chris Harris and I and a couple of guys played cards in Ms. Augsberger's homeroom class.   He would come in a couple of minutes after homeroom started and with his great smile, put his right arm out and with his index finger pointed up and say "Deal me in, boys!"  

2.  I heard he lived on my old street on Stephan Drive.  Whenever I was in Chicago which is usually once a year, I would drive up the street a couple of times hoping to see him.  Alas, that never happened.

3.  Years ago when I wrote my Johnny Trout letter which prompted Pam Olander and a few other wonderful classmates to start the fund (and I assure you that I am interested in re-hashing that), but Doug emailed me a humorous, sweet, but poignant and supportive letter as if we were still in high school and friends! 

I cannot believe I am getting teary-eyed for someone I have not seen for 47 years.  If anyone knows the family, please pass this along to them.  God's speed to the family.
