What a terrifying experience to go through. I am so glad to know you are safe.
Yours was a wonderal eulogy Ted. Thank you for catching us up with Steve's later years.
These sympathy notices are very profound and touching. I hope Debbie will read them all.
When I read 73 years old, I thought "so young"....and yet I know 73 is "getting up there" for us all.
Rest in Peace Stephen.
I had to laugh when you wrote "Never bred" !!! Made me think that I was horse who birthed three foals!! Hope you are well.

How thrilling to be state champs!
I am impressed you play chess. I love games but never was able to get interested in chess.
My grandchildren occasionally play games with me but seem to prefer screen time type games. Younger toddler age siblings who knock over boards and pieces don’t help the cause.

My husband Alfred has FINALLY admitted that he can no longer do spur-of-the-moment rides, like from PB to SLO. Beside being an avid cyclist, he loves to hike. However, he went on a long hike before the earth was dry enough from the rains, and slipped and landed on his back. He is very fit, slim, and a positive-thinker, but I remind him that he cannot stop the calendar. Gil, I just can't imagine not seeing you on a bike. I hope you will be able to return before too long.
Off topic: Do your kids come to visit you in Colorado, or do you see them in CA?
Happy about VCM tech.

We belong to a health club in PB. Ours was having some work done, so we were given access to their hoity-toity Beach and Tennis Club, also in Pebble Beach. Their pool is the best, much deeper than ours, and I couldn't wait to swim there. However, my dives and skimming the bottom of the pool, then popping up, doing the breast stroke, crawls, and wickedly trying to behave like a 20 year old, my left side of my neck punished me to no end, to the point I could stand it anymore. I was referred to a local MD called a Physiatrist. This was last summer. He injected my neck in a dozen places with Lidocaine. He did this six times (once a month), and lo, and behold, it gave me new lease on life, and I wrote 71 on my bag to remember I am not that youngster any more!
Thank you for the kind birthday wishes. We are going to celebrate with the whole family here on Sunday. The grandchildren are still in school today, and hubby is working. Lauri, I have ordered a mantonella as an appetizer from a Sicilian bakery here. It is delicious. I didn't make it to Sicily this fall. One of my relatives-by-marriage keeps an eye on my house in San Vito lo Capo.
