Dirk Stiggins

I went to Texas Tech and graduated in 1966 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. In 1966 I married Susan Carr and I joined Amoco Oil Co. as an engineer. We lived in Levelland, TX. while Susan finished her degree work at Texas Tech. She got a BA in Education in 1968 and we moved from Levelland TX to Ft. Worth. Our daughter Julie was born in 1969 in Ft. Worth. We moved to Chicago and shortly thereafter to Commodoro Rivadavia, Argentina. We lived in Argentina for a year and then moved back to Chicago with Amoco. Our daughter Monica was born in Amarillo in 1971 during the time we were moving from Argentina back to Chicago. In 1973, I quit Amoco and went to Norway to work for Phillips Petr. Co. We lived in Norway for almost 61/2years. Our son Greg was born in Norway in 1976 and son Jeff was born in Norway in 1979. In 1980 we transferred to London, England and stayed for 3 years with Phillips Petr. Co.. In 1983 we transferred to Lafayette, LA. for three years with Phillips. Then we transferred to Bartlesville, OK and stayed for 10 years. In 1996 we moved to Houston, TX. About 2003, I retired from ConocoPhillips in Bellaire, TX (a city within Houston). Susan and I were very fortunate to be able to see and visit with most of our kids and 7 grandkids during the 25 years we lived in Bellaire,TX. In 2021 we moved to Tulsa to be nearer some of the kids/grandkids. In 2022 Susan contracted a rare, aggressive form of thyroid cancer. She was treated at MD Anderson in Houston for 2 years, but succumbed in March 2024.
