David Jacques

While attending Pampa Jr. High, I was the dishwasher at Empire Café on Culver Street by the railroad tracks. While attending Pampa High school, I worked the fountain at A & W Root Beer on Highway 152. While attending Caprock High in Amarillo, I worked summer and weekends for A.W. Boren building the new Pampa sewer plant. While attending Amarillo Jr. College, I worked at Amarillo Globe-News. When my scholarship for WTS didn't come in May the draft board dropped my deferment; so, I joined the army security agency and shortly after finishing basic and getting my security clearance my scholarship, acceptance to WTS and deferment came through. AIT in Massachusetts, secondary school in California ( met Valley girl ) and a short vacation in Vietnam, marriage to Valley girl, a couple of years at Ft. Hood, Texas, then back to California for forty years of fun in the sun and back to Nashville, Arkansas where I started life. Retired, travel a little, Valley girl passed away and now I am preparing for more traveling. Hope to see you all in September.

March 2021

I have moved up to a 30 foot motorhome and do more traveling and visiting. Planning to be in Amarillo October 8-9 for Caprock reunion. Hope to be able to make my California spring and fall trips this year. Last year only made fall trip and made new friends while hiding from the covid cops. Landing spot in Arkansas is growing like a weed with lots of rain and snow this year; so, summer will be spent mowing.

Long Story.

I started school in Fairbury, IL, then I attended grade schools in Lake Charles, LA; Casa Grande, AZ; Sunnyslope, AZ and Nashville, AR. I atttended Pampa Jr. High and one year at Pampa High before moving to Amarillo's Caprock High and graduation.

I continued to work in Pampa even though I lived in Amarillo until I went in the service in 1968.
