I had known George since at least junior high at Jinks. He was one of those guys who was always around and not trying to draw attention to himself. A real pleasant dude to everybody. I guess that's why it really suprised me when he arrived seemingly minutes after my mother died in 1984 at then Gulf Coast Community Hospital from Southerland Funeral Home. All I could say to him initally was something to the effect of  "George I had no idea this was your vocation." George assured me with "we'll take good care of her." A really soft spoken, classy guy.

I met George Cook for the first time at St. Andrews Elementary School when we moved nearby in the fifth grade.  He was a nice all-around guy.  I considered it a privilege to be a friend of his.
