Susan Poggioli Trawick, loving wife, mother, and grandmother, went to be with her eternal Lord on Monday, April 25, 2022, at Prattville Baptist Hospital. She is survived by her husband of almost 48 years, Dennis. Susan was 67.
Susan was born on November 21, 1954, in Chelmsford, England to Sylvia Ruth and John Lynn Poggioli. Susan was a proud "Air Force Brat". Sylvia and John retired to Panama City, Florida. Susan graduated from Bay County High School in 1972 where she was Captain of the tennis team. Susan was recognized on "Senior Appreciation Day" for having perfect attendance through her first 12 years of education, never being late or absent from any scheduled class ... EVER. Susan attended Gulf Coast Community College, where she was also on the tennis team.
Susan met Dennis (also an "Air Force Brat") and they quickly fell in love. They married on September 18, 1974. Susan and Dennis had three children, Jennifer Renee, Angela Kaye, and Wesley Dylan (Shannon). Susan was a "Navy wife" for 9 years as Dennis became a reactor operator on the nuclear submarines USS Gato (SSN 615) and USS Jacksonville (SSN 699). Susan and Dennis spent 20 years as husband/wife team owner-operators in the long-haul trucking business. Susan owned her own 18-wheeler and kept it in meticulous condition. She loved traveling around the country and meeting new people. She especially loved her multiple trips to Alaska and had visited every state except Hawaii.
Susan never met a stranger and strove to make everyone she knew happier in any way possible. If you came to her house, Susan would cook you an amazing Italian meal, usually lasagna or manicotti with her famous homemade bread and rolls. There was always more than enough for you to take some home.
Susan was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Jennifer, brother David, granddaughter Joey West, nephew Sean Miller and beloved friend Lisa Brewer. Susan was the proud grandmother of Dylan Moore, Joey West, Charlee West, Raegan West, Susan Amberlee West, Chasity Winborne (Brad), Zoey Gonzales (Michael), Jadyn Fields, Jack Trawick and Amelia Trawick.
Susan had six brothers and sisters, Karen Rosen (Eliot), John Poggioli (Debbie), Joanne Sullivan (Brad), Lynn Miller (Mel), David Poggioli and Carol Odom.
Susan is being mourned by her mother-in-law, Monette Fort Trawick Burdeshaw, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Jerry Hamm and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to do something randomly nice to someone in remembrance of a life well lived and well loved.
