Captain Timothy Lynn Sprouse, 66, of Panama City, FL, passed away August 23,2021. Tim was born November 19, 1954 in Panama City to Gerald “ G. L.” and Lola “Wymndham” Sprouse. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Michael Bryan Sprouse.
Tim was a 1972 Bay High School graduate. He was an avid fisherman and licensed charter boat captain for many years chartering throughout Panama City, Key West and Alaska. He loved working on his boat, being outdoors, and hunting and fishing in Arkansas. Tim retired as a DOD contractor from the Naval Support Activity, in Panama City Beach, FL. He was employed by Gryphon Technologies, where he directly supported the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC).
Tim is survived by his brother Greggory Lee Sprouse, nephew John Bryan Sprouse (Haleigh), niece Suzanne Deaton (Mark), all of Panama City, and niece Michaela Dollar (Garrett), of Leander, Texas. Also, left to cherish his memory is his uncle and aunt Harold and Lynette Dykes along with several cousins, great nieces, and many relatives in South Carolina.
To know Tim was to know that he was “a jack of all trades” who had a huge heart and loved to help all his friends and family in need. He could weld anything, he could repair small engines, he could fix your automobile, grow a garden, and build just about anything he set his mind to. You could bet one thing, anything he built would last forever. Tim hated cutting corners, no matter how much time it took. Also, Tim was known by his fishing buddies as the “king of the beach” and the best inshore captain around. He could catch anything that had fins and a tail and could fill your boat with grouper, snapper and trigger fish without ever losing sight of the beach. He has provided us with a lot of great memories to keep his memory alive.
Graveside services will be held September 18, 2021 at 2:30 pm at Evergreen Memorial Gardens where family and friends are invited to come celebrate the life of Captain Tim. At a later date, a private ceremony will be conducted at his favorite fishing spot in his beloved Gulf of Mexico. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
