Ronald Lee Sterrett of Lynn Haven, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008.
He was born June 24, 1954, in Dayton, Ohio, moving to Florida in 1966. Ron graduated from Bay High School, attended Gulf Coast Community College and Florida State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree. Mr. Sterrett was the owner and operator of Silver Circle East in Parker, Fla. He had the heart of a teacher and mentored hundreds of kids throughout his life.
Mr. Sterrett was preceded in death by his father, James D. Sterrett. He is survived by his mother, Cleone K. Sterrett; two brothers, Robert D. Sterrett and wife, Beverly, and Thomas J. Sterrett and wife, Donna; nieces, Heather Sterrett and Kim Smith and husband, Larry, of Dayton, Ohio; nephew, Brian D. Sterrett; and great-nieces, Brooke Sterrett, Hanna and Courtney Smith and Kaylee Meyer.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008, at Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 8 p.m. today, Sept. 23, 2008. Serving as pallbearers are Bill Hinson, Brian Sterrett, Ken McVay, Michael Chin, Larry Smith and Gary George.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2012-A Lisenby Ave., Panama City, FL 32405; and Covenant Hospice, 107 W.19th St., Panama City, FL 32405. Expressions of sympathy may be viewed or submitted online at www.kentforestlawn.com.
