Charla Anne Collins Rizzuto went to be with the Lord on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2017. Charla was born at Lisenby Hospital in Panama City, Florida on April 2, 1954.
Charla grew up on Grand Lagoon on Panama City Beach. She had a grand time riding her horse on the beach and in the Gulf with our sister, Carol. We all enjoyed paddling our rowboat across the lagoon to play in "our" sand dunes and our magni?cent Magnolia tree house there.
Charla was born brilliant and so talented. She was one of those fantastic cooks who never needed to measure ingredients, another of her gifts that brought joy to those around her. Charla learned to crochet and made gorgeous blankets for all of us. She also crocheted the prettiest Christmas trees for family members to enjoy every year. Charla had a "green thumb;" She could put anything in the soil and it would grow. She played the piano beautifully by ear. All she had to do was hear a song or have a tune in her head, and she could play it with no written music.
She was blessed with the gift of music and shared that blessing with many right through the last days of her life.
Charla treasured her family and is survived by her sons, Aaron, Rayne and Collin Rizzuto; her sisters, Claudia Shumaker (Bob) and Carol Collins; nieces, Betsy Hughes (Bill) and Courtney Adkinson (Frank); grand-nieces and nephews, Morgan and Janie Hughes; Ansley, Sawyer, and Robert Adkinson; uncle, Gary Harrington; aunt, Jan Collins; cousins, Marion and Brad Harrington, Teresa and Sandra McElvey, Courtenay Eckardt (Michael) and Chip Collins (Gigi), and Tommy Fletcher.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents; John Marion and Sarah Elizabeth McElvey and George Reese and Annie Joy Collins; mother, Marion McElvey Collins; father, Charles Collins; uncle, Joe McElvey; aunt, Ruthie McElvey Harrington; and uncle, Bill Collins.
The family will receive friends and family at the graveside at 10:30 a.m. with the graveside service beginning at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2017, in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Hwy 231. Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
In lieu of ?owers, memorial donations may be made to Anchorage Children's Home or the Music Ministry of First Methodist Church of Panama City, FL.
"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." John 14:27
