Dear Lynne...I'm so sorry for your Dad's passing.  He was an amazing man and father to you.  He was always very good to me during all our trips to all the boat and ski races we attended together. I remember the time he drove us from your house to my boyfriends house in Newport Wa/Old Town Idaho.  It was a couple hours drive and he was so kind to do it.  You and I are both orphans now, you know it just means we've lost both our parents. I had a dream about you awhile back that you called me on the phone, funny huh.  I wish you, Martin and your entire famiiy peace during your time grieving.  Love, Robin

Hello Class of 1968

What are your thoughts of holding our 50 year reunion at the Queen Mary on Saturday, April 28, 2018? I've talked to the Queen Mary, it's ideal and close to so many of our classmates relatives whereby they can visit family and friends too. Things change in everyone's lives and they will continue to change as we age each year.

  • Do you like the location?
  • Do you want to have other classmates from other years?
  • How many of you are really interested in staying at the Queen Mary?
  • Can everyone send me their email address & phone number to: lorenetwin1@att.net
  • I do have an old list but I want to update it because things change, if you want to include your address that would be great too.
  • If you want me to look for other places, I have a couple in mind. After looking at the Queen Mary I fell in love with the atmosphere. A person could book the hotel for Friday and Saturday and go to Catalina for the day. I can check for prices for that too.
  • I am waiting for the prices of hotel rooms.
  • They told me that I needed to put at least $3,000 down to hold the event in the room that holds up to 300 people.
  • Do you think that we need a bigger room? They do have a larger room if we need it, but naturally it's more money.
  •  I know that we are planning to have a D.J. and a photobooth.
  • If the interest is there for the Queen Mary, I can start breaking down the costs as soon as we get a count of people wanting to attend.

Last year November I spent the night on the Queen Mary for a Live Blues Music Festival and it was charming.  The rooms are quite nice and very clean.  I think it would be lovely for our reunion.

Sandra Brezeale (Allison)

Lorene I just saw the posting for the 50th reunion. I would be good with the Queen Mary. Since it is our 50th I think it would be better to have just our year grads, but if we need to include other years for cost and to get enough people I would be okay with that. When you break down the cost and let us know could you please let us know if there is a package price for rooms for the night & info on those. Thanks for all your hard work. It is appreciated. There would be 2 coming from my home.

THE PARTY IS ON SO SPREAD THE WORD

PRESS RELEASE FROM QUEEN MARY

Urban Commons, LLC 777 Figueroa St., Suite #2870 Los Angeles, CA 90017

March 16, 2017

Dear Valued Guest:

Long Beach officials say the ship is safe for the public and that those areas noted in the marine survey have been closed. Already, $23 million is being spent to fix the most serious problems. “Major action is being taken regarding the repairs, and the public is not being put at risk,” city spokeswoman Kerry Gerot said.
- Los Angeles Times, March 16, 2017

We’d like to thank you and the many visitors aboard The Queen Mary for your continued support of our iconic landmark. Since the ship was docked in Long Beach many years ago, our commitment to providing a safe, fun and educational experience has been our #1 priority. As the ship’s new leaseholders, Urban Commons has strengthened that commitment. Importantly, Urban Commons has taken immediate action on critical renovations that will preserve the historic integrity of the ship. The Queen Mary is safe for occupants and those conducting business onboard – as well as the more than 1.3 million people who visit each year.

Urban Commons stepped in last year with an immediate focus on improving operations onboard The Queen Mary. They are addressing the most immediate structural needs to enable The Queen Mary to thrive in her next 80 years. In fact, there is more restoration activity taking place onboard the ship today than there has been in the past 30 years. During this time, we will continue to welcome guests to the ship for hotel stays, weddings, meetings, and to enjoy our various special attractions and events.

In addition to the short-term updates to the ship, Urban Commons has been hard at work, in collaboration with the City of Long Beach, to create a long-term plan for The Queen Mary site that will help draw even more interest to this unique landmark. We anticipate sharing more information about those plans in the
coming weeks. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you onboard.

Just dropped the check in the mail for Terri and myself.  Paid in full, (because I know what it is like to wonder if and when the $$$ is coming.)  Thanks for your energy and efforts towards making this a successful evening.   Also, it would be fun to spend the night on the old girl. (The Queen Mary! Wheeww!!)

Glen I did receive your check and checks of many other classmates. I will post tomorrow the names of our classmates who paid with a deposit and many that have paid in full. There are still many others who have stated that they want to attend, but I have not received their deposits yet.  I want to thank each and every one of you for helping in this endeavor.  Keep spreading the word. I am going to the Queen Mary on Saturday, March 25 at 1:30 pm. to take pictures and to talk to the catering department. Got some great news, my nephews friend works on the Queen Mary (in an important position), he also reassured me that the Queen has had work being done on it for the last 6 months. He says it's GREAT. I am really excited  about our reunion. We have one year to make this happen with all the plans. You will be amazed at what you will see on the night of the reunion. Be prepared to a beautiful ballroom filled with pirates and pirate themes.

Lynne Scales (Thurman)

So very sorry to hear of another classmate passing. I noticed Sandra passed 10 days before my dad. God Bless all her family.

03/30/17 08:00 AM #3937

Don Deyne

I would seem Sandra Lint (Lyle) is on the In Memory list, while Sandra Harris (Lint) passed in January.

Sandra Harris Lint's Facebook page is sill there with post by her daughter.

It would seem some confusion may exist over the similar names.

If I'm wrong, my appologies.

Lorene BuSteed (Householder)

I just had a conversation with Sandra Lint (Lyle) this week. She wanted to know if I wanted to use her song outfit for display at the reunion and said yes, that would be great.

Sandra Lint (Lyle)

Hello all, it's Sandy (Lint) Lyle and I am alive and well in San Diego! Looks like there is a bit of a mix up with the last name of Lint (no relation). Please correct this to show Sandy (Harris) Lint on the Memory Page.
