I remember that Rat hole we played in while raising money for the Sr trip, ha ha ha, wonder if it's still there. Shirley, it's great to hear from you and I do pray Walmart is open Saturday morning now that you have the directions to the meeting hall, ha ha ha. I do hope and pray that we have a great turn out as this may be the last for some of us as I imagine the class will get smaller and smaller as the years pass. Oh, and I do know that Mark will be entertaining. Kim and I hope to see many, if not all of you there, we'll be staying at the Jamison as well, just to relax and sip a drink or two. ha ha ha

Take care

David

Hey, Melanie!
Thanks for asking...I AM coming to the reunion. Had to check some family commitments first, but I signed on today. I'll see you there!

I see the registration number is slowly increasing!

Shirley Rose Neugent (Glisson)

I look at the list of our classmates and see who is NOT coming and who has NOT posted a profile. It makes me sad. Another thing that makes me sad is wondering if I will recognize those of us who DO come! Will we have name tags?

09/01/09 11:44 PM #34

Forrest Paulk

Nope! No name tags, Also, you have to pay $1.00 each time you miss someone's name.

Melanie Coffee (James)

Forrest, that's mean! I'll have to bring lots of dollars...I barely can remember my son's name sometimes...lol!

Forrest Paulk

I have become a master of not remembering names, but I have devised clever conversation to make someone think that I do remember their name without saying it. See, there are good things that come with age!

I certainly remember the Rat Hole. Walking through the burlap curtains made of ole' baccer' sheets. HaHa...What fun we had!!! Everyone disco dancing...those were the days of John Travolta and Olivia Newton John in Grease...Hahaha...Good times...great memories!!! and the band...HEAVY TRAFFIC...

Everyone PLEASE call someone from the class who has not registered! I have been trying to reach people, but have not been able to get in touch with some. I have called parents, aunts, uncles...please help. I have no idea where Patrick Roe, Robert Douglas, Robbie Taylor, and others are. If everyone calls one...that will help. Also...Sid Strickland has not registered. Mark and Elbert...please try to call him. Carl Wood and John Corbett are both coming. John has dial up and it is so slow that he is registering through mail...he works with the post office, and Carl is not connected to the internet at this time.

Are you all sure we don't need name tags??? LOL I'll be glad to have some available.

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Hey Shirley Rose!
I sent you a message? Did you get it?

09/05/09 09:33 AM #40

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Tammy,
Let's wait for our 40th reunion for name tags! We'll surely need them by then! From all the pictures I've been looking at online, I believe I would've recognized everyone from our class if I had seen them on the street! Just add a wrinkle or two, a gray hair or three, or subtract some hair from some of the guys, add a lot more character to the face and there you are! If you look at some of those yearbook shots, I think we might well have IMPROVED with age!

Do any of you remember the time after one of our previous reunions when we rolled Mr. Lankford's yard?? I remember you Melanie being in on the deed, but I can't remember who else? I didn't just dream this, did I?

09/05/09 09:45 AM #42

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Speaking of Mr. Lankford...I can't believe he isn't with us anymore. So sad.

09/05/09 12:28 PM #43

Melanie Coffee (James)

Oh, I remember...yeah, I think I was in on the dirty deed, but I'm sure it wasn't my idea!! Seems like Marsha Morris, Shirley Rose, and maybe John Corbitt were the ones that dreamed that up...more than likely SR...lol.

09/05/09 04:15 PM #44

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

yep, sounds like sr!

I was definitely in on the rolling of Mr. Lankford's yard. What I truly cannot believe is that I did not do more to stay in contact with him. He didn't want it, but I wish I had camped out on him! Sometimes it is better to be relentless than considerate. I am thankful that I had a visit with him after Nanette Thombs' funeral.

Sherry, I had such a hard time getting into the site originally that I was not able to access your message. Please send another!

I think I have a Facebook link to Robert Douglas. I will give that a try.

And whom should we honor with vandalism this time?

09/08/09 08:02 AM #47

Juanita Sapp (Sapp)

Robert Douglas is not going to be able to make it. He messaged me on Facebook. Reba White is trying to see if she can come. She is going to call Joan Lee and see if Joan is coming.
I have sent out registration forms to some that I have found addressess for. Time is running out. If you have not posted to your profile or sent me information to go in the memory book, please do so before the 15th. I want to start printing them soon after that. I have to print everything and bind them so please get me your information for the book. And for the ones that have your picturs are great.
Thanks

Hello Hello...I remember the "rolling of Mr. Lankford's yard"! I drove one vehicle. Along for the ride in my vehicle was: Sherry Tucker Haskins, Evan Haskins, Donna Taft and myself. I would not get out of the car...I was afraid that I would get caught and I was the only one that was still from Pearson. I could just see it in the headlines of Atkinson County Citizen: Teacher Arrested for Rolling Former Teacher's Yard. Hahaha I wish I had helped now. I remember saying: Sherry, you are the sheriff's daughter...What will he say if you are caught? Sherry...you replied: "Exactly...I will get off the hook." We all laughed, but I stayed in the car on the road. I told you all that if someone came...you all would have to walk home. It was so much fun!!! Shirley Rose, Melanie, and Marsha...I think were in the other vehicle. We had all been at Melanie's mom's house and we decided to get into mischief. Anyway...Mr. Lankford asked me the next day. I told him all about it. He laughed and laughed. He was glad that everyone( some of you all) haha that rolled the yard went to clean it up the next morning. He loved it. I am so glad I was blessed to have taught with him at Atco High.

OK friends...I was in on the "rolling" of Mr. Lankford's house. Like my friend Tammy, I was afraid we would get caught and my husband would kill me! We were right next door to the police station!!! What shocked me was the fact that Mike Vining and his wife helped too! He was so shy in school that I almost fainted when he & Karen participated in the venture! For those of you that were in the band, remember the fall festivals we had in the tobacco warehouse? HEAVY TRAFFIC made some good music in that place! I remember one time when we were cleaning the warehouse after school, Janet Corbitt was sweeping. There was a 2X4 holding up one of the doors that you entered the warehouse through, and Janet was going to move the board so she could sweep "real good." (that was the last words she said before the door came crahsing down on her head!) I honestly thought she was dead! Thank God she had a hard head! lol Also, it must have been our freshman or sophmore year and Tim Morris was the Driver's Ed teacher. There are some GOOD stories to share about that class!!! I am so excited about seeing you all! I saw Dawn Giddens in Harvey's a couple of weeks ago. I told her about the reunion. Just for thought...one of my granddaughters (12 years old) asked me just this week: You mean you didn't have cell phones back then? How did ya'll talk to eachother? How sad...how sad...

09/10/09 08:23 PM #50

Tammy Guthrie (Altman)

Oh yeah...Amy...I knew there were some more in on the "rolling" but you know...my memory is not what it used to be. HaHa I think I have too much going on and get it all "mixed up." Yes, I called Dawn last night. We caught up some, and I can hardly wait to see everyone. I mailed a paper today to her with all the info. I think she was going to the library today to look up this site. :) Talk to you soon.

WOW! I am astonished at how a simple roll of toilet paper holds the power of such amusement and conversation! I think I will bring a few rolls to the reunion! LOL

09/13/09 07:53 PM #52

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Yeah, Forrest, and to think that I was the one to bring up the subject! I don't know if I should be proud or sorry...If you DO bring tp to this reunion, whose yard will we roll next? Any ideas, anyone??!

Amy Tanner

How about Doris K. White's house?? June Mullis' house??
Betty Summner's house?? Mavis McKinnon's house?? Dot Daniel's house?? Want me to continue??? I'm game this year!! Who's car will we be driving??

09/14/09 09:43 PM #54

Tammy Guthrie (Altman)

Mrs. Betty Sumner's husband is real sick. Mrs. Dot lives in Lakeland now, and I don't know anyone who can get us out of the Lanier County Jail. Mrs. Doris K. White is now in a nursing home...(I think) and maybe...just maybe...we could try rolling the yard of Mrs. Mavis IF her boys don't shoot us. I don't know though. I don't think I'll drive my car...the tag says "SeekGod" I would hate to have to change it to "YRUNJAIL" (Why Are You in Jail) haha
