O.K. Forest..you bring the rolls. LOL

Hey Gang, Yes, I was in on rolling Mr. Lankford's yard, "God Rest his Soul" I remember riding with Shirley Rose and Melaine, Shirley Rose was the driver. Mike Vining was in on the fun as well. We also hung out at Melanie's house for a while afterwards. What a hoot!! We had one of the best classes ever, we were a "close knit" group who always looked after one another. One of the things I enjoy about being home over the Thanksgiving Holiday and spending time with family is running into old friends!! I am so looking forward to this reunion...and don't worry, you'll for sure recognize me, haven't changed much, there's just a little more of me! Are they having the Homecoming Parade? Is anyone going to this event and has it changed much?? Marsha

Marsha-Pretty sure we'll have a parade...it's a homecoming tradition! On the other hand...as far as changes...it seems like they are just not as good as when we were in school. We(some of my co-workers & I) were just talking about this very thing yesterday. We think it's because when we were in school, homecoming week was so exciting because we didn't have new cars, computers, and cell phones to entertain us. Homecoming week meant getting to do something besides go to school, come home, and work on the farm.(for me) Another thing...Parents and teachers are not involved like they were when we were in school. Anyway, if you come early to the parade, let me know. I'll be at PES and my graddaughters will be attending the parade for sure! Great to hear from you!
Tammy-Loved your comment about the "rolling" event! I went by your house yesterday...spoke with Charles. Your landscape is lookin' good! Love ya!

It sounds like we need to have a float in the parade! Or at least watch it together?

09/15/09 09:02 PM #59

Shirley Rose Neugent (Glisson)

And Mike Vining has not even responded that he is coming to the reunion!

Hey, Melanie, do you remember this...

Stiffy, Stuffy, Scrawny, and Boney!!!???

09/15/09 11:56 PM #61

Melanie Coffee (James)

Sherry, I remember...I was Stiffy, you were Stuffy, Meg was something, and I don't remember the other. Do you? Was that Michael Day that gave us those names???

Juanita Sapp (Sapp)

Has anyone been in contact with Michael Day?

09/16/09 05:25 PM #63

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

I thought it was Rodney Jones who did it, but I'm not sure. Meg was scrawny and Risa was boney, or the other way around.

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Has anyone been in contact with Karen Boone?

09/17/09 05:36 AM #65

Tammy Guthrie (Altman)

I haven't talked to Michael Day. Mike Vining and his wife have paid and signed up through the mail. Kim Boone Mullis said that she has mentioned the reunion to Karen Boone several times. Kim doesn't think she is coming. I talked to Michele McKinnon and Amy has talked to her also. She hasn't signed up though. Everyone keep at our classmates. I've called several and their parents...hopefully we'll get some more before the time. I emailed Ricky Jackson, but haven't heard from him. :) If you all decide to watch the parade together...let me know the meeting place. We could always throw together a pickup truck with a "Class of 1979" sign...hahaha but would probably have more fun watching the parade.

Are the football announcers going to say anything about us being at the football game Friday night? I think it should be on the lighted board beside 441!! (just kidding)...but I DO think the announcers should say something about us! If we want to watch the parade, we need to meet further down 441 than the livestock market because the band joins the parade there. Let's say in front of the "old" High School at 3:30 or 4:00. Anyone that wants to join...come on!

Shirley Rose Neugent (Glisson)

I love it! At good OLD ATCO High! I will be there as early as I can. Between 3:30 and 4. Maybe we should put up a sign on the side of the road there? I just wish we could go to "Punkin's" station across the road to get a cold drink!

09/18/09 09:02 PM #68

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Punkin's Station! God, I hadn't thought of that establishment in so long!
Hey, Shirley Rose, do you remember when you, Melanie, Meg and I went to Waycross (I think) to see Saturday Night Fever? We stopped on the way at some place and got some sloe gin...do they even still MAKE sloe gin?!!

09/19/09 10:03 AM #69

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Tammy--if you see or talk to Kim Mullis again, tell her that I said to tell her sister Karen Canoy that Sherry Tucker wants her to come to the reunion!

09/23/09 10:36 PM #70

Tammy Guthrie (Altman)

I sure will Sherry. I'll call Kim or email her/ or both. :)

I've spoke with Kim Mullis several times about Karen. She won't even respond to Kim about the reunion. I don't think she will come. She NEEDS to come, because LOTS of people love her and would be thrilled to see her!

Bad news! My son's schedule has changed, he is back in Germany right now and we only have 10 days to spend with him (9 after today). We are flying out saturday morning so we can spend some time with him. We have only had 2 days with him in the past 18 months and won't see him again for another year. I really was looking forward to seeing everyone again, I have missed so much already and looks like I will miss out again.

Best wishes to everyone and maybe I can see you guys soon.

Shirley Rose Neugent (Glisson)

Forrest, we will miss you!

09/24/09 05:11 PM #74

Shirley Rose Neugent (Glisson)

Yes, Sherry, I VIVIDLY remember that night. SO much fun, but I remember having a hard time getting home. hmmm. And I can honestly say I did not drink a drop of sloe gin. Now really, did anyone drink anything? We were underaged! We just had some coke and popcorn at the movie, right?

09/24/09 07:00 PM #75

Sherry Tucker (Haskins)

Of course, what WAS I thinking?! Great coke and popcorn...and John Travolta! Yummy!

09/24/09 10:20 PM #76

Tammy Guthrie (Altman)

Oh my goodness....John Travolta!!! I watched Grease so many times...It was different back then and that was a time when I was "playing the field" ...dating but not serious about anyone...I remember if someone asked me out(a friend of course or someone I knew from school) I would say, "Are we going to see Grease? If so...yes!" hahahaha I saw Grease 13 times that season! :D Good times!!!

09/24/09 10:22 PM #77

Tammy Guthrie (Altman)

Forrest,
I am really sorry that you and your wife will be unable to attend. I was looking forward to seeing you again, and I know everyone else was as well. We are planning the next reunion while we are all together, and it will be posted on the website. Who knows? We may not wait 5 years. I know you all want to spend time with your son. That is completely understandable. Have a safe flight, and we'll mail your memory book. Talk to you soon.
