Plans a Humanitarian Trip to
Ghana, "West Africa"
Dear Greenbrier parents and Girls,
Greetings from West Virginia! I would like to introduce an exciting opportunity: the second annual Humanitarian Service Trip to Ghana, West Africa. The Humanitarian Service Trip is designed to give past or current students the opportunity to experience Africa and participate in the culture and history of the local population. We want students to make important connections between America and other parts of the world. Before the trip, students will participate in preparatory actives including, endurance training and service projects. We hope they will discover through their service work in both communities, though Ghana is drastically different from America, the root causes of hunger and poverty are the same.
Your daughter would serve by participating in building projects and serving at a care center for four weeks during summer 2011. After their daily service work our group will participate in a reflection and journaling session, allowing each student to share their experiences, ask any questions, and reflect on the meaning and importance of their work. In addition, students will drum in the evenings and participate in excursions during the weekends.
Please encourage your daughter to participate in this extraordinary trip. I believe it will be an exciting journey your daughter will remember for many years to come. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me.
