December 2023 Update -
I'm in Oregon for the Holidays, enjoying being away from the phone ringing off the hook all day long. Has anyone else had their phone hijacked by Medicare providers. It's so bad I don't answer the phone during the daytime. I don't look at caller ID, I just turn the ringer off and go about my business. Hopefully this will have stopped by the time I return in January. I've got a Mobile Home to get sold so I can quit paying rent. Especially when I'm gone so much of the time!
Happy Holidays to Everyone.
My Mom passed away in April of 2020 having lived a full 97 years. I'm now free to do whatever I want and I want to get out of the very expensive Bay Area and California. I'm moving to Oregon where the cost of living is a whole lot less and less people on the roads and in stores. It's a slower pace of life and that suits me just fine.
In order to make this move I have a lot to do and I'm chipping away at it little by little. One of the first things I did was buy a 40' cargo container for storage. Until I looked into it I didn't realize how inexpensive they are. I got it for $1800 delivered, I'd been paying $300 a month for storage here in Concord. It's working out so well I'm getting another container in the next few months for more storage. I'm moving into a 30' travel trailer on a fiend's property in Oregon. Obviously I can't put two housefuls of furniture in a travel trailer with me, thus the cargo containers. Someday I'll have a house again but I wanted to make this move without having to pick a house immediately.
Rather than sell my house I'm renting it to a friend after we did a major renovation (2017). It drained my bank accounts and I even had to take out a small loan to finish. But EVERYTHING is brand new. It's really nice for my friend and his family now and I will see the return in a few years when I sell the house. I reduced a three bedroom house to storage that is the size of a one car garage.
