December 2023 Update -

I'm in Oregon for the Holidays, enjoying being away from the phone ringing off the hook all day long. Has anyone else had their phone hijacked by Medicare providers. It's so bad I don't answer the phone during the daytime. I don't look at caller ID, I just turn the ringer off and go about my business. Hopefully this will have stopped by the time I return in January. I've got a Mobile Home to get sold so I can quit paying rent. Especially when I'm gone so much of the time!
Happy Holidays to Everyone.

My Mom passed away in April of 2020 having lived a full 97 years. I'm now free to do whatever I want and I want to get out of the very expensive Bay Area and California. I'm moving to Oregon where the cost of living is a whole lot less and less people on the roads and in stores. It's a slower pace of life and that suits me just fine.
In order to make this move I have a lot to do and I'm chipping away at it little by little. One of the first things I did was buy a 40' cargo container for storage. Until I looked into it I didn't realize how inexpensive they are. I got it for $1800 delivered, I'd been paying $300 a month for storage here in Concord. It's working out so well I'm getting another container in the next few months for more storage. I'm moving into a 30' travel trailer on a fiend's property in Oregon. Obviously I can't put two housefuls of furniture in a travel trailer with me, thus the cargo containers. Someday I'll have a house again but I wanted to make this move without having to pick a house immediately.

Rather than sell my house I'm renting it to a friend after we did a major renovation (2017). It drained my bank accounts and I even had to take out a small loan to finish. But EVERYTHING is brand new. It's really nice for my friend and his family now and I will see the return in a few years when I sell the house. I reduced a three bedroom house to storage that is the size of a one car garage.

School Story

In August 2017 I drove up to Oregon to stay with a friend and watch the total solar eclipse. It was spectacular and we didn't have to go anywhere, just outside. The eclipse was over by 10:45 AM, so I could have started home then, but I decided to wait until the next day to start my journey home. That was not a good move. I should have waited another day. Have you ever been in a 500 mile long traffic jam? Believe me its NO fun! I never got above 40 mph the whole way home. What is normally a 9-10 hour drive took me over 16 hours. I was absolutely exhausted when I pulled in the driveway about 12:30 AM. I don't know if is just bad luck or what but the next year 2018 my drive home was almost as bad. This time it wasn't too much traffic but rather a forest fire that closed the interstate. The detour was a couple of hundred miles, took over four hours to get back on the interstate 75 miles down the road from where we had been detoured. Fortunately my drives since then have been trouble free!

Sorry we didn't connect at the reunion. So many people and I have no idea what you look like after 50 years. I wanted to go looking for you but I realized I didn't know who I was looking for. Give me a comment back.
