Aside from the obvious CLP, Bank, and movie theater....all I have to offer, is the laundromat. Does Pete's Cigar Store, count?

Don't forget to spay and neuter your pets. >^..^<

Of course Pete's Cigar store counts -- and the guy who worked there when Pete was out was named Gus -- he dipped the ice cream

And the Bank was called the Peoples Bank.

How about the Arco station -- it was owned by two Italian brothers Johnny & ??? can't remember

Kate Smith Theater
Mill Creek Diner

Both my husband (Bruce Sayers) & myself remember Moonie, because of him my husband had to have a great dane. On my 2nd dane now, they're great breeds. So let's hear those stories about Moonie.

I remember Moonie walking down the street with the bank bag from Park Grille, taking it to the bank for deposit. When I was in 5th grade walking to school, had a bag lunch, as the crossing guard was crossing me here comes Moonie, he jumps up & pushes me down in the middle of Berlin Rd. Takes my bologna & cheese sandwich & keeps going on his way. lol

ok, Let's start with stores...how about DOLENTES" candy store.
Always went there before the movie, they had penny candy.
Now "MOONIE', I clearly remember him pinning my sister Toni against the wall of Pete's cigar store aqnd taking her ice cream cone off her. She was about 7 months pregnant, obviously the dog didn't care!
Oh and there was the eye doctor, Dr.Moore on Erial Rd. in Clementon.
I still think whoever decided to ruin Clementon and tear all the good stuff down stinks.
Many Great memories growing up and shopping in Clementon, skating on Clementon Lake in the winter, bon fires and all.

Illl take the tag Rene.....I can remember DOLENTE'S CANDY STORE (2 stores down from the movie), Dover dress Shop and Premier Toyland. Can remember many more but Who will take the next tag??

There also was a 5 and 10 near the movies (i guess they are dollar stores now) lol

The place to be every Sat, Sunday and Wednesday night, my skates burnt in the fire. We would leave them in the back room so we didn't have to lug them all the time. They were the best of times.

My grandparent's shoe store across from the movie theater.
Bleattler's Shoe Store and the cleaners next to them. There was also a little grocery store on the movie side of the street.

Does anyone remember the name of the bakery down by the park?

I remember the bakery just not the name. There was a hairdresser on the corner (Duettes or something like that, then the bakery. Also there was Seybolds bakery up past the park. Barb,I was thinking the same thing about the foot x-ray machine. LOL I recall it was next to Frisch's tho.???? Remember the Buster Browns LOL

I remember the movies, & I think there was a Sweet Shop near the movies. there was also some kind of Five & Dime past the movies, on the way to Clementon Park. There was a grocery store up on the hill before you got to the movies (if you were coming from Garden Lake). I only remember that because I used to steal candy out of there before I went to the movies. By the way, I think the shoe store with the x-ray was Shusters (or something like that). I think it is still open on the White Horse Pike.

Hi again everyone, the bakery was on Berlin Rd not Gibbsboro.
I don't remember ever seeing an x-ray machine in the shoe store.

FYI: I put the name Sis on my note because that is what I was known as in school. The day I left home, Oct 6,1966, I decided NEVER to be called that again and started to go by Cathy.

For awhile there was two barber shops. One was Di Muzio's it was between Clementon AA firehouse (before they built on Gibbsboro Rd.) & the 5 & 10. The other was Fred's & it was next to preimer toyland.

Wasn't there a mechanic or auto body shop further up Berlin Road called Mitchell Brothers?

I think overtop the 5&10 was a dentist office. It was a father and son, Dr. Robert Davey and his son Dr. Blair Davey. There also was a bar called Eddie's Palm Gardens, which was across from the park. It's now a parking lot for the park.b

Mitchell's was an auto junk yard and also a bar. I lived across the street from them. There used to be an Acme next to Clementon Lake Park before it moved up the hill just past the railroad tracks. My dad worked for Acme.

Milk Creek Inn was behind the Acme by the Ferris wheel entrance of the park. My brother and I used to go fishing in the creek. My brother hooked me in the ear one time when we were fishing.

EEEEEKKK! Dr. Davey -- I remember how afraid I was of him. He was really nice but dentistry wasn't that good back then. I loved Dr. Moore, the eye doctor on Erial Road. He never hurt and he had Highlights for Juniors in his waiting room.

And remember Mr. Moran who took all the school photos? He was nice.

If you are lucky enough to live in Mexico, you're lucky enough!

Dr. Davey was not one of my favorite people. I remember Dr. Moor. I think we just wanted to go see him because of the Highlight magazine. Last I heard was that he retired to Florida with his second wife. She was a teacher in the Lindenwold school system. She has since passed. I remember going to the Moran studio to have my senior cap and gown picture retaken. They were black & white pictures and naturally the cap & gown was white...

Also do you remember Sandbergs, the flower store right at the point? They always had some kind of animals there. They also were loaded with all kinds of cats, along with ducks, geese, and ferrets. Well they're still there.....

There was also the Gibbs Real Estate where Domino's is now and Gruber's bar across the street (Harpers) and before any of us were born, it was called the Clementon Inn. The bakery on Berlin Road was Seybolds, they were German and had the "BEST" cheese pie! My Aunt (Grace Hensel) worked for Philips Drug store. And don't forget LaCasa's bar. I have a nice collection of old postcards and photos (repro) that I have collected over the years on Clementon. The last movie I saw at the theater was Dr. Zhivago. Frattinduno(sp) was the gas station where the Police station. I remember Dr. Davies the dentist, my Mom went to him and I remember she had a terrible experience with him. Don't forget Wooster's, it's still there and where the Wooster's tower is now, use to be the American Legion. I can go on but will pass to the next person. A lot of fond memories.

Well, given all the work you did to get this board up and running, that seems fair and reasonable.

What we should all be doing is gathering up all those people on other boards and facebook and classmates.com and bringing them here (home).

This is actually perfect because you not only have the forum but the profiles -- we know who everyone is here.   I don't know why it was so hard getting people to come, but now that they are we should get more to keep it interesting.

Tell everyone you know to get their cyber selves over here and put in a beefy profile (with photos) so we can all walk back down memory lane together.

By Main street are you talking about Clementon  Road by Clementon Park? I remember these stores:

Fritsches Drug store,

The Bakery that was a storefront of a home that I think is now boarded up( my dad used to take me there as a little girl and the owner would always give me a cookie

A gas station on the right side going towards Blackwood (maybe a Sunoco or Mobile)

a billiards hall next to some  bar that I used to go to on dates

A bank on the same side as the Park that was hard to get in and out of and I almosty had alot of accidents there

Chris Mascioli's house was an old storefront down across from Mitchells Tavern(if it is still Mitchells?) there was( and I think there still is)  an old auto dump there.

Maybe an Ace hardware or plumbing store

I will ask my mom for the rest of the stores because I have not been tsown there for awhile and it is now all built up instead of the woods I remember. She would remember because they would drive down from US Ave just to shop at Frtisches drug store.

Yes, isn't that the dog who would walk the bank deposits to the bank by it self... Arlene Heinrich Ruble,  and I lived up the street on Lincoln Avenue from Pete's Cigar store... one of my favorite places when I was a kid, and I would always stoop Gus on his way to work and talk to him, he was a nice person, but I always wondered why the grown-ups where still in the store after we kids left... well I found out when I grew up... he was a bookie... and Grubers.... I use to play with Diane when we were little before she passed away..

Don't forget Dr. Norman LaBove on Gibbsboro Rd and his nurse, Miss Lucky. He used to scare me as a child, because of his height. No matter what the ailment, he always dispensed his special "red medicine" in a bottle.

My grandmother held him in such high regard she named my youngest uncle after him..and till this day he has been always called "Doc", for short.

Also on Erial Road at the bottom of the hill was Young's Produce Stand.

Cathy,  I didn't forget to share the postcards, been busy, but hope to get to that real soon.  As a matter of fact I went to a postcard show this past Saturday near Washington Crossing State Park and found 2 matchbook covers, one for Richards Real Estate and one for Park Grille and 2 Pine Hill postcards which is unusual...I was very happy.

Wow-you all brought back so many memories from the old Clementon from when I was a kid. I remember the sweet shop, and the movies. I remember going with my Dad to Myzines Hardware-he had everything. I also remenber Moonie up by the pool hall, the cleaners, the little school, WT Gibbs grammer school, Grants-all things I haven't thought about in ages. Thanks for all the memories. I also remebr Dr Davies the dentist on top of the firehouse-hated to go there. but after my Mom would take me to the 5&10 next door, and oh, howabout the bakery?

Take care
