In Memory

Dave Strang

Of McMurray, age 50, died suddenly and unexpectedly at his friend's hunting camp in Geneva, PA, on February 13, 2011. He was born May 17, 1960, in Pittsburgh, the son of Donald William Strang and Connie Elder Strang who survive. He attended the Baldwin-Whitehall School District and made many lifelong friends there. A 1978 graduate of Baldwin High School, David was an outstanding athlete who lettered in wrestling and football. David played football while a student at Grove City College and was a member of the Epsilon Pi fraternity. While at college he became known as the 'King of Games' due to his great love of card games, at which he excelled. He graduated from Grove City in 1982 and maintained friendship with his fellow students and brothers for the rest of his life. David had a great love of the outdoors and spent as much time as possible hunting and fishing throughout the state and the country. He was a founding member of the Cross Creek Bird Dog Association and was always happy to bring guests on hunting trips with him. He always had his faithful Labrador Retriever at his side while hunting pheasants and waterfowl. His best friends were his son, Douglas, and his father. The three spent many, many hours fishing and hunting and enjoying each other's company. David worked as an account executive for the same company for 27 years. When he started working in sales in 1983, the company was named MCC Powers. As the company's workforce sustained long-lasting success, it grew and was purchased by larger companies, until finally it was purchased by Siemens Corporation. Through the years and while the company changed names, David remained a solid sales producer who was loved by his colleagues and his clients as well. Everyone who met him liked him. His family was the center of his life, and nothing made him happier than watching his children grow. In 1984, he met Marilyn Hughes of Dormont and married her in 1989. They had two children who were the light of his life: Douglas and Bonnie, both at home. He passed his love of the outdoors and card games on to his children, and his happiest hours were spent with them. In addition to his wife, children, and parents, he is survived by a sister, Linda Bove (Terry) of Bethel Park, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements by BEINHAUERS. 724-941-3211. Friends welcome at 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 15317, Tuesday and Wednesday, 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Services will be held at the Funeral Home, Thursday, 11 a.m. Please add or view Tributes at www.beinhauer.com
