Keith Wootton

Keith Wootton

From his son Curt ("Pittsburgh Dad") via Facebook on February 13, 2019: With a very heavy heart I must announce that on Monday I lost my father, Keith Wootton. As many of you may know my father was the inspiration behind this silly character that I have played for the last 7 years. He exemplified what it meant to be a true Pittsburgher throughout his entire life with his Bloomfield roots, hard working attitude, and total pride in the city which he adored. Growing up one could definitely categorize him as a disciplinarian, but that sternness could easily give way to his tremendous sense of humor. And I’ll never forget how good it made me feel just hearing his laugh. He was and will always be the show’s biggest fan. May the electric bill always be low, the roadwork get done, and the Steelers just run the “G*ddaamn ball” when they’re supposed to;) We’ll always love you dad and just know that you made Pittsburgh a better place and me a better man. -Curt

Keith was a special friend to me. He always was happy to see me in art class. He made me giggle. Those are some joyous memories. I am so glad to see my father's photographic portrait of my friend. He is smiling in heaven now, and wishing us well. Love Debbie

Keith was a good friend and someone truly wondeful to know. His talent in artwork was astounding as was his incredible sense of humor, which he passed on to his son as the embodiment of Pittsburgh Dad, a joyful running commentary on all things Pittsburgh. When Keith told me he'd like to be class president in our senior year, I quickly volunteered to be his campaign manager. We passed out "Keith for President" toys, where you tried to roll little ball-bearings into the kitty-cats eyes. Great fun. We came in third.

I saw Keith's sense of humor instantly when his son began doing the Pittsburgh Dad series of videos. What great fun they are. Even thoughI've been gone from the Burgh since high school, I get a quick dose of Dawntawn memories and the same easy smile Keith always brought to me, each  time I pull one up on YouTube. Like many of the class, I have lost touch with many fine friends over the years and I'm sad to learn that Keith is no longer with us. Goodbye, Keith. My life was richer for having known you.

Good friend,funny guy, talented artist
We had many great times together. Lost touch over the years, but got together over a year ago. He was so proud of his son. Always made those around him laugh. I will miss him.

How upsetting the news was last night. Special Friend to many because he was such a Special Guy.  A talented artist and such a funny, funny guy.  We were last in touch about 3 years ago trying to get together for one of our class meetings.  Unfortunately he was unable to make it.  I will always have a smile when I think of Woot, and I will miss him.

I am so saddened to hear this news. I have many fond memories of good times with Keith at Churchill HS and when he often stopped by at our house on Burlington Rd. I remember his artistic talent, his sense of humor, his ability to make a special and fun connection with so many classmates. He always made me smile- always.
My sincere sympathy to his family and his many friends. Thinking of all of you in the days ahead. Keith will not be forgotten- ever- I think of him like the sun☀️- a ray of light in the class of 70. And, though I’d not seen him in decades, I often asked Bill about him as they stayed in touch occasionally. Rest in peace, my friend -

I have few high school memories, but Art class with Keith is one of the fondest.  We had long conversations about dating, girlfriends, boyfriends, etc.  He was a class act!
