Bill I have to agree with you about the beauty of snow. So this weekend my wife and I had to go to a christening in Charlotte,  So we drove into this bit of sunshine. BRRrrrr. Back home tomorrow, but I also wanted to share our terrace with you that overlooks the fourth hole. Yes, the lake holds gators and lots of neet birds. No snow though!. I still have my skates and the rink is a mere three miles away. I loved your pics Bill but i"ll opt for Florida over a picturesqe wintery New England. cool Stay warm and safe, Jerry

Looks great Gerry nice picture I enjoy the South we had a place in SC on the beach for several yrs and we discuss moving back there full time but Doe is a die hard NE but the discussion still comes up unfortunately I only have 49%  of the vote.  But I got a concession to look for a rental for next winter to try it out.

Bill, The snow pics are from Charlotte. Drove back to Atlanta a day ahead of their next snow and got back to Florida last night and was greeted by our one gator. I must say they are stealthy characters but only eat the fish. They are all over the golf courses here in Fla, but the golfers and the gators exist in a mutual respect. Then there are those occasional idiots. surprise As too that 49%., happy wife happy life. Have a safe winter and stay warm, Jerry

OK I am a bit embarrassed for Florida. Last night Florida broke loose and floated north. Well we got a bunch of trucks together along with some chains and we were lucky enough to catch up with her before she got to far north. Unfortunately for us it will be 32 degrees in the morning. It took a liitle more time than expected because we had to throw some blue state voters off. But we hooked up and are pulling hard south  making steady progress. Our traveling weather man said that if all goes well we will be back up to 80 degrees by Wednesday. Damn that was close, also as to those voters, well they will all be just fine, and I wouldn't worry much, besides they were mostly my relatives. I promise this won't happen again as we will double chain Florida in place so you can enjoy our sunny days once again. Ya'll come visit us real soon, balmy days ahead. Oh, and leave those masks at home, we enjoy seeing all of your rosy faces..

Jerry, make sure you put the Florida Keys back in the right order. Would hate to discover that those of us that live at the bottom of the Keys in Key West are now located in the Middle Keys, or worse, Key Largo!

Mike whats even worse is that I get the Card Sound Road in the right place so you have a back door to Aabama Jacks for a cold one and some of those great Conch Fritters. If we got to 34 degees you must have gotten into the 50s. That would be something nice for a change. With all this building in Florida I pray they leave the keys alone. Good luck and keep up the writing...JT

Do you guys know the difference between 34 degrees in Florida and 34 degrees in Quincy with white stuff on the ground? You can make a snow man, we can only think a snow man! Why? Because in a day or so its 40 degrees warmer. We both have top hats and carrots, but we need to import our coal. We can use golf balls but that doesn't work because frost is white just like golf balls. So you win! Now what we do have that you don't have is......"Thermometer Races!" surprise Mercury against Digital. Draws big crowds, especially at the pool. Oh we also don't have to many toboggan accidents either. I remember one guy at Furnass Brook who did a double back flip with a full twist, and he stuck the landing. But they took points off for being upside down.

Hey gang,

Our honorable classmate, JOE BOYD, is hosting an Oldies Night party!!  This will be a great charitable event with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warriors Project.  Joe has put a lot of time and effort into creating a great evening of music and dancing to the songs of our high school years!  In addition to our own group of classmates, Joe has invited the NQHS Classes of 1963 and 1965 to join in as well!  Obviously, spouses and significant others are very welcome.

The party will be on the night of Friday, May 6 so there's plenty of time to get it on your calendar!  Please consider attending this very worthy event, and feel free to invite your friends and family.  Here are the details:

Oldies Night!

May 6, 2022   6:00PM - 10:00PM

The Tirrell Room at Quincy Lodge of Elks

254 Quarry Street, Quincy

Tickets $35 per person

Make checks payable to:

Wounded Warriors Project

P.O. Box 692574

Quincy, MA 02269-2574

When Joe receives your check he will mail the ticket(s) to you at the address on the check.  The ZIP code is NOT a mistake.  It is exclusively for the PO Box Joe has set up so be sure to use it as printed above.  There will be only 200 tickets available but the class of 1964 has the highest priority.  There is already great interest in this event so if you plan to attend please send in your check sooner rather than later.

See you at the hop!!

I can't make it but my back yard friend said he would go in my place. Taken from my bed room window. Florida has big lizards.

Now I know where our missing Key West gator is! Point him south, he won't bite!

Hey Mike this guy comes back every day and pretty soon its their mating season. You can't convince a Gator that your golf ball is not their egg. I am not a golfer, just an observer. It seems that the older golfers have bad  eyesight and poor swings because they find the pond far more often than the green. The greens don't have gators but the ponds do, and there are those occasions when the gator and the golfer just want to keep that small white ball/egg. The lizards don't negotiate!! So Fla has salt water Crocs but KW may be to far south.

Jerry, 20 years ago we had a lot of gators in our waters. Now with the increase of boaters and snoopy people who don't know better, the gators have gone into hiding. You only hear about them when they bite someone, usually a kid or drunk! We've got a lot of drunks in the canals, so the gators must be fat! But the local boot factories are out of business!

Hey gang,

I posted a message back on March 3rd (MSG #887) about an Oldies Dance Party hosted by Joe Boyd.  This is it:

Oldies Night!

May 6, 2022   6:00PM - 10:00PM

The Tirrell Room at Quincy Lodge of Elks

254 Quarry Street, Quincy

Tickets $35 per person

Make checks payable to:

Wounded Warriors Project

P.O. Box 692574

Quincy, MA 02269-2574

So here is some updated information.  As previously mentioned, the party is for all classmates graduated in 1962, 1963, 1964, and 1965.  To join us, make out a check for $35 per person and send it to address above.  Please be careful with the zip code!  The 02269 is a special designation for PO Boxes.  Once received, Joe will send the tickets to you at the address on your check.  Remember, this is a tax deductible event!

More than half of the tickets are already sold and this event WILL SELL OUT!  We are expecting more than 200 guests!  YES,  THERE WILL BE FOOD!

For anyone who would prefer to stay local overnight, Joe has arranged for a reduced nightly rate at the new Holiday Inn in North Quincy.  Just use the code ODP (Oldies Dance Party) when making your reservation.

So if you're thinking of going, get your tickets now because they will NOT be sold at the door.  And if you have some friends or neighbors you'd like to bring along, that's great!  Just follow the same procedure.

Hope to see you on MAY 6!!

Tom

Well, I have to say, Joe Boyd did a fantastic job of pulling together a great crew for his Wounded Warriors Project charity event!  It was a great time and we all got to meet up with many old friends, some of whom we hadn't seen since high school!  I believe this system has a size limit but here's a few pics:

More pics from the Oldies Dance Party!  The Tirrell Room is quite large so it may seem like a poor turnout; however, we had almost 200 old friends show up!  How many of these old timers do you recognize?

And some of the guys brought their classic cars to brighten up the parking lot:

It was a great event for a very worthy cause.  JOE BOYD deserves a standing ovation for his efforts!!

BRAVO, JOE!!!

That was a fun night.  Tom thanks for all your help.  All those car owners were happy to donate their time.  (The Harley Davidson behind the 57Chevy belongs to our Ward Higgins).
